Well, Dad and I made a trip down to Tigard today and drug home a new toy from Slacker85ta's. I am now the proud owner of 2 Norwood built formula firebirds. But this ones a 2nd gen with a 400/th400.

As you can see.. its allready in the barn!

Odd, 160mph speedo, but no gauges at all. Formulas got wood trim until late 70s. T/As got the engine turned dash. Also seems to be an incorrect steering wheel. But it does have a/c and rear defrost!

And theres the mighty Poncho! With a 2 barrel?? lol never knew they even made a 2 barrel 400. But according to the vin & casting #s it is correct. 2 barrel 400cid with dual exhaust. Whopping 175hp!!! lol.. think that'll get upgraded a bit! Very Happy

Way to go John, I woulda lost that bet. Thought it would only take 3 posts before somebody brought up the color. Think all it needs is blue paint to counteract that 2 barrel though.

Just got my haircut yesterday soo.. Smack! But dont make me dig up a pic from the 80s...

Glad to see Brandon is so excited about this car. Hope he gets it all done so I can go for a ride in it.

I agree with Brandon about some of the odd options on this car. When I bought it I did a little research. The 400 with a 2bbl was the base 400 engine that year but it does have the "dual exhaust" with the transverse muffler in front of the gas tank.

If you need any help or anymore info, Brandon, let me know. I've done lots of research into the 2nd Gen 'birds.

P.S. The origional color on this particular Firebird was GOLD! I think he should paint it the stock color. LOL

You sure about the gold Andrew? The gold paint appears to be on top of the brown paint that is under the headliner and side panels. Also any idea where the RPO codes are? If theyre still there anyway. Or maybe a build sheet?

Cant wait to get started, but I still have that gmc to finish yet.. and probably need to get the velles body back together so its sellable.

Is that Red Dragon replacing Frankenvelle, or are you just gonna put it up for sale and if no one buys it, then you will finish it?

Would like to sell the velle to buy poncho parts.. something with alot of stroke maybe.... anyway.. dont think i'll be able to sell the velle until i finish up the body work and prime it at least. But if anybody wants it as is no problem there.

Send a check/MO for $35 to Pontiac Historic Services:
http://www.phs-online.com/order.htm

and they will send you a huge, awesome packet of information about THAT car (not a generic pack for all models of a particular year like Chev. puts together)

I've done it for 3 previous cars (2 '78 T/As and 1 '76 T/A) and the information contained within is invaluable when trying to document the options for the car.

Hope this helps...

Paully

Muhaahaa!! She's ALIVE!! Very Happy Timing was a bit off, choke wont open on its own, oil was full of gas and compression was low.. So I oiled up a few of the cylinders, twisted the distributor back, stuck a screwdriver in the choke and stole the battery out of the velle, and whatya know.. She runs! Pretty good too, but waaay too quiet. Lots of blowby out the breather.. either stuck rings or she's wore out. Not alot of smoke out the exhaust, think that was from the stuck choke and gassy oil.

Anyway, I'm pumped. At least now I can move her around under her own power until I get funds to do her right.
