In a few weeks, maybe a month I'll be pulling the stock 305 from my bird. It could probably use a rebuild. and if you can afford it some flat top pistons would be great for it. I'd also go with a milder cam as mine is giving it one hell of an idle, although she pulls real hard 2000+. You can see it on my car on this site. By the end of this week I'll have a working 700r4 that I'm pulling from it as well.

Welcome to the crew! Tell us a little bit about yourself, your car, etc...

What type of problems are you having with the 2.8L?

Something worth considering too....If you do go with with a non-computer controled setup on any small block chevy V8, and get any type of automatic with overdrive, (700r4, 2004r, 4L60..) you'll want to buy an aftermarket controler for your torque converter lockup. I know the 700r4's don't live long if you don't. I believe there's another piece you'll need to have proper adjustment of your TV (throttle valve) cable.
