"Blue" has been a great rig as a Bronco with a killer stereo and lift, etc.
But the stock gears and 35 inch tires combined with a 302 just isn't enough "umph."
So, after reading the comments left on my diesel dually thread, I tried to get a 2000... but ultimately wound up with this 99.
Got it off craigslist... 85,000 miles, in excellent condition, except for a bent rear bumper.
It's an XL, but the only thing I'm missing is the in-dash 6 disc CD changer. It's an automatic and that thing hauls the mail.
The Bronco's got to go to help pay for it... and it will be missed.
But I'll get over it. _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

Tell us what kind of mileage you're getting after you figure it out. Is that a 2WD?
I've considered getting a tuner but just can't bring myself to separate with the cash. It just won't pay off for me. It would have to be just for fun.
"DP Tuner" is hands down the best chip setup out there for 7.3L. Power Hungry Performance does something pretty cool by modifying the Edge Evolution with custom tunes. You don't need to buy a bunch of gauges because it is all on the screen. Don't know much about their tunes but I understand he does a good job. |

I'll get that number to you as soon as I can... but the powerstroke.com guys tell me it should be around 17 unloaded.
This one has a chip, but I can't remember which one and it's not here right now (Danielle has it to carry stuff for the local Cancer walkathon) and I'll get that info as well.
Heading over to the stadium (Battle Ground) (just got back from Post Falls) so I can do the walk thing as well. _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

You will get the best mileage running 1800 rpm on the freeway. I just drove 800 miles this week and averaged a little over 22 mpg. Once you approach 2000 rpm and higher the mileage will suffer. I have a single rear wheel 2WD with the 6 speed manual. You won't do as good but you should be able to get high teens if you discipline yourself to stay at 1800 rpm.

I would highly recommend Source Automotive for any kind of diesel tuning. They bring there trucks out to PIR all the time and they never seize to amaze me. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Nice looking rig.
I used mine yesterday on its largest load so far. Another full size truck. Had no problems at all other then people not getting out of my way when I needed to switch lanes.
And yes, that 7.3 has alot more then what the factory gave it. |

OK... there's a sticker on the smog label
it says reprogrammed
Desert Diesel (I checked this... an outfit in Arizona where the rig is from)
05/09/02 XV2F RC D/C 422 MRT2
I have no idea what any of it means.
And I'll be keeping the 1800 rpm figure in mind as well.
Hopefully, I'll be racing again this Saturday, and I'll have the new trailer up and running (just needs a little wiiring past the junction box) _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."
