| My dad just bought a 4 post car lift for his garage up in Chimicum. It should be here in 4-6 weeks. Now I'll have so much more room for activities! |

I think I earned the right to use my dad's lift after while in high school my '83 Z/28 fell on me while I was changing the tranny filter. Hurt like 8 bitches at a bitchfest.
It was $1,600 from costco my dad tells me.
He normally never buys stuff like this so it's like "whoa" |

I almost ALWAYS toss a few 8x10 blocks of wood under the car that I keep beside me when I crawl under a car. I hope in the situation where the car falls that wood will be a savior. Other than that, if you aren't comfortable vigorously shaking a car before you crawl under it, DON'T. _________________ E30

I DID! thats why it took me by surprise! While wrenching on the tranny. I ended up shifting it out of park and into neutral. Then it came rolling on down the jackstands!
But good call on the big block of wood. Now i always try and have something as thick as me under there just in case!

I tend to like getting it up off all the tires all together on 4 - 6 ton jack stands. Like a rock. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Mine aren't quite as heavy, but I support all four corners with jack stands. _________________ 92 Camaro

I about ran myself over with my old 85 z/28. Had ramps on the front wheels, and was jacking up the rear of the car. Missed me but sucked the jack under the car. Moral: Always turn your ramps in opposite directions when jacking the rear of a car up. _________________

I've never had trouble with ramps that have built in lips. As long as your jack rolls smoothly the car wont move. When jacking, always remember.... the jack or the car has to move as it's being lifted!
Weren't you on crappy road in the street chris? Jacks don't like to wheel on chunky road. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| I did have my car on 4 large jack stands but the rear ones sank into the driveway and the front ones tipped backwards and the car fell. Now I make sure to put something strong to distribute the load of the stands if it's sitting on something other than cement/asphalt. |

You should do that on ANY surface besides cement. Jackstands can and do sink into asphalt. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S
