I see you're jumping right in here. Cool. We seem to scare off most newbies before they say anything! Laughing Introduce yourself and your car please.

Welcome!

I see your profile says U.S. Navy, where are you stationed? Plenty of us here are retired or former military, and some active yet.

Hey guys.

Well I am in the Navy, stationed in Everett, but my ship is in Bremerton for the next few months. I'm from the Everett area originally. My first car was a 1983 Z/28. Keeping this thing short the 350 I put in it blew up and the car has been parked since late 2004.

After meddling with a few other cars/trucks in between I came across a 1983 Firebird S/E for $1,200. I'm excited because it's something I'm familiar with. I love the car although I feel like I need a mullet wig and listen to "Hot Blooded" - Foreigner every time I drive it.

Basically I know how to install parts and such but I'm not experienced at all with tuning and choosing the right parts combos. I figure this is a great place to get help and learn the intricacies of the third gen. I'd like to see what other people have done with their sweet rides as well.

I'm on duty today but after I get off work this evening I'm going straight up to the shop to go get my bird out on the road. Just finally fixed it and did some upgrades along the way (friend dropped bolt into engine Doh! )

On a side note is anyone going to the NHRA event in Kent this weekend?

Thanks for the welcomes!

-Lee

Welcome!

We're a good group here. (Most of us... Pokey pokey )

I like those early Firebirds. Good choice.

Have a good time with that 'bird. That's what it's all about! Laughing

Welcome dude!

I'm also in the Everett area. I live right next to the boeing plant and drive around a Black Camaro with silver stripes. If ya see it give me a honk or a rev.

Let me know if ya need some help turning a wrench sometime.

With the ship in Bremerton, you must be on one of those busses I pass going the other direction every day at Kingston and Edmonds, I live in Bremerton and work in Bothell. Are you on the Lincoln? I have a nephew that was on her a year or two ago.

Yeah I'm on the Lincoln. The busses are for E4 and below. I usually take one of the victoria clippers the ship has chartered going from Everett to Bremerton. (that's where $9,000,000 of your tax dollars is going by the way)

My dad works at the NUWC in keyport and lives here in Poulsbo so I've been here so I can bum tools and a garage to work on the firebird.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this earlier but I also have a 1967 Plymouth Satellite I'm trying to restore.

I'll put up some pics here when I get back to my own place tomorrow.

I finally brought the firebird home from my dad's shop! It still needs some fine tweaking. At first I couldn't get the secondaries to open ever while driving but I fixed that by removing the check ball from the vacuum assembly. I've fallen in love with my car all over again. I don't have a whole lot of experience tuning engines so I'm going to make small isolated adjustments and see what happens. Anyways tomorrow I'll get to drive it all the way from Bremerton to Everett. Should be interesting.

Welcome to the crew. Cool

This is a great site. People are friendly, have great sense of humor, and rarely get out of hand. Heck, I'm one of the worse behaved and I'm not all that scary. Laughing

Is the car in your profile the new car or the old? Looks like somebody has been playing with engine. Wink
