Looking for headers for the 2.8. Anyone have any used Pacesetters? Can meet anyone as far south as Seattle, and north to Bellingham; as I'm in the middle of the two.

Also looking for cat-back exhaust and catalytic converter.

Theres a place in Auburn that can make a set for you and tune them for your motor. Probably pay a bit more, but good stuff Cool

Stan's Headers & Mufflers

(253) 854-5310

Address: 4715 Auburn Way N, Auburn, WA 98002

They were recommended to me by Performance Coatings (which is down the street) in case my headers weren't able to be coated.

Looking for something cheaper than $227 (on Partstrain.com non-coated ones)

Great place. They did my custom stainless mandrel Magnaflow catback when I first got my bird. Expensive but lasted the life of that motor! Laughing

I'm not interested in paying someone to install/custom make them for me. Although it's easier, just don't have that kind of money. Then again, I'm more of a DIYer.

forgive my curiousity,

but, why bother with a set of headers for a 2.8?

a 60 degree V6 in a F-body chassis just won't ever make enough power to move the thing quickly to ever measure up to what the same people did with the same chassis with SBC, LT or LS motors did or have done.

I understand the fuel econ arguement, but really w/o forced induction its just throwing money at something that isnt worth it. And at that point with boost the fuel econ goes down a little for a daily.

Sorry to hurt feelings, but trying to go fast with a 60 degree V6 in a 3rd gen F body is just a waste of time and money which is better spent on a good V8 for the car.

Sorry to rant. just my .02

Been there, done that, not doing it EVER again. If you run the numbers, the iron heads just aren't worth the trouble. If you want to make any "decent" power you will build a hybrid with aluminum heads. Go snoop around www.60degreeV6.com for idea's.

This isn't going to be some high hp/tq car. I'm getting a v8 for that (looking at another one today/tomorrow).

Would just be nice to have a little more response out of that motor. It's already nice with the T5 and 3.42 gears. But just a little extra power would be nice.

The iron heads are the weak point, I know, but they do work good if I decide to go forced induction.

The only reason I ask for headers is to compare prices. A 3x00 hybrid isn't out of the equation, either.

Just seeing what's cheaper right now.

Go get some 17lb/hr injectors and tune it. That will wake it up a fair bit! Is your's a MAF setup? If I remember right you cannot datalog with those but they are easy to tune.

You are 100% correct on boosting them. They respond well to it. You saw all the stuff on TGO right?

Yep, yep!

Won't the 17lb injectors make it burn way too rich? Yeah, it's MAF. And tuning, I get confused about it. Unless one of you wants to come out to my place, or me go there, and help me tune it?

To datalog it I need to swap to the '165 ecm, I do believe.

it's more of an improvement in injector design than the flow rate that makes such a difference. I believe all 3100+ motors got them. Best mod I ever did to mine. I swapped my V6 to the '730 ecm. MAF are way more forgiving.

Would still need someone to help me tune.

'730 ecm, is that from the later 3.1?

I was the first one to ever get a set of the pacesetter headers. I am the one who found out about the oilfilter fitment problem and had them redesign them.

That being said. I hardly drove that car peddle to the floor. But for around town "trolling", I did not feel the gain was worth the cash. If you can find a used set, then fine. But I wouldnt pay new price for them.

Now, if you want some 17lb injectors, I have some. I'll sell them damn cheap. I also have some 19lb, which will cost you more.

:edit: yes the 730 is from the 3.1 RWD, 3.1 FWD(diff prom), and also 91-92 TPI (diff prom)

How long can you hold on to them for me? I'm going to check out a camaro today (305) for $400 that runs. So if I get that, money spent on performance for the 2.8 won't happen until later.

Haha, oh ok. Yeah, I've got a 350 long block looking for a home, looking for a cheap camaro/firebird with a 305 or one with a tranny only...so far they are only shells.

Have a good 3800 Series II lying around as well, but that's my dad's. Don't know what he is doing with it.

ok, again, question remains.......why bother with headers for a 60 degree V6 in an f-body chassis the power gains will be minimal....

if your looking for a V8 chassis, great. Hope you find a great deal. They're a great platform to make a quick third gen.

I guess my orginal question hasn't really been answered. What is the point of paying out the nose for a set of headers for a V6 3rd gen F-body chassis? I cannot personally see a justifiable gain in power to justify the cost of buying or fabricating them.

blue89 (travis) kind of hinted at that in one of his posts in saying that paying for a new set of pacesetter headers wasn't worth the coin.

I guess where I'm getting at is, that any money that you want to spend on headers for your V6 car is better spent in upgrades for the V8 car that you said your searching for.

Chris, its a wanted ad. If you want to debate stuff, do it in one of the other forums. I am tired of peoples wanted ad's, and for sale ad's turning into threads like this.
