Does anyone have any good pic's of their y-pipe? I'm at a loss on how to get the driver side over to the passenger side. Any V8 pic's would really help.

Yours has LTs, right?

Mine was routed just like that.

I have my old ypipe off the car now I can go take a better picture if you want. My new ypipe is made pretty similarly.

Thanks for the pic. I basically have shorties.

I have an automatic and i cannot have the exhaust hang down lower than the car at all. The auto seems to be much wider than the manuals cause of the pan. Plus with my tire combo and me excessively lowering the vehicle I have around 4-5" from the ground efx to the ground, just slightly higher than my low top shoes. Because of that I was hoping to run it in the stock routing. I'll get ahold of the kid I sold my LT1 to and see if I can see how that one is routed.

The v8 one is routed just like your v6. The left goes forward, cuts across right behind the cross member, back down the pass side, y's(more like t) at the back of the motor, then over to the pass floor pan.

Now since you dont have a stock motor Cool whos to say if your oil pan will allow that.

redoing my y-pipe is next on my list now that I have a welder Twisted Evil

ya, the bbc pan goes all the way forward to the x-member! No room Evil or Very Mad Not to happy about that. At this rate I'll cut my x-member down to run the pipe over. Grr.

This is the closest thing I've seen that might remotely work. Looks like small pipe though. I'd like to keep it 3" and then join to a 4".

How bad are the roads around where you live? The exhaust on my is the lowest hanging thing other than my SFCs and I just deal with driving carefully and cringing when I inevitably scrap something. Most times I laugh it off because at night my friends and I look for the sparks coming out from under the car. Laughing

Like ya said, just have to know your roads! I'm constantly scanning the pavement.

This guy is hecka low. I'm going to look to see if i can route mine this way. If so I'll have to refabricate my driver header to be shorter so I can bend it around.

Seems like you'd roast your LCA bushings that way? Could be really cool though.

I thought that was how qwktrips birds exhaust was routed?

With what you built, you should be able to run it in the factory location. Unless you've got a mongo pan.

Your 1" lower then me. I still occasionally scrape now.

For as little as I "think" your gonna drive this car, doing that 2nd design would work.

here's some. I have dozens of exhaust pictures, unfortunately this is all that I could find that would work with an auto tranny...

I think I'm going to route them like "z28 exh 006.1.jpg" I'm going to have to return my 3" collector flanges and buy a set of stock manifolds from a guy in town here has. He has a decent set that are typical 2 bolt flanges. I think they have a 2.5" outlet which will help me route the separate pipes to the wye around like the picture.

Positive note: I got the power steering working last night! I got a power steering line from kurfbird for an 86-89. "Modified" the double flare whatever end for the 1974 pump to be a single flare with a grinder, 2 files, and a dremel with a tapered bit. No leaks! Then i got to plug in my power steering pressure sensor. Hoorah for plugging in sensors!!!! Razz

not sure if it will work on yours, but we pulled the inspection plate from my th350 and flattened a 3" pipe into an oval and ran it right under the tourque converter, just left a 1/2" clearance to the TC, worked good on that one, still hit once in awhile, but mine way as low as yours I think

That is an awesome idea! Thanks, I hadn't considered it yet. I'll see how much room I have when I get home!
