| I haven't heard many good things about the Passat from my VW friends... Lots of stuff you can't swap over from standard golfs, gtis, jettas, etc meaning more money. |

take it fromme audi's are almost all economic awd cars with loads of power and upgrade-ablity. they really are no harder to fix than a vw but 10 times more reliable. _________________

| what vintage are you looking at? Since you are looking for a 2.8, i assume you are looking late 90's vintage? if so, be prepaired for electrical problems. I do like the VR6 motors, and the electrical issues of those vintage VW's, you are also stuck with a FWD car. In that sort of price range, i think you could find a car that is AWD or RWD that will be a lot more fun. |

you should really look into the 89 to 96 audi's 90quattro, 100quattro, gt quattro, a4 2.3lt quattro,a6, s4. loads of power, all awd, 2.3l inline 5's come with stock 175hp, 2.3Lt (turbo) come with 210 ish, and 1.8Lt with 180hp. plus they run great for like 300000miles as long as you take care of them. i've owned more than a couple of the audi's and let me tell you if your looking at vw's you should really check out audi. all of there cars are based on and built off of years of r&d in rally circuit racing, performance and safety... _________________

I'm kinda with the rest, have not heard that much great things about vw's. Especially the repiar parts. Sounds like audi is the way to go. I have drive a quatro in the snow once and it was a blast and way easy to handle. _________________ 12th Man Seahawk Fan |

I've heard nothing but good things from the few Nissan owners I know.
Their pick up trucks are very reliable, and seem to hold their value pretty well. _________________
