so tonight my car will be at school all night, because it decided not to start.
-i am actually kinda worried about it, since i don't live in the best part of town.
so after school i tried to go home, and it would not start, so i thought it was just a dead battery, so i tried to jump it, that did not work. so i took the battery home and charged it, went back and it would not start again, even with a charged battery and a jump. so i did that again and it still wont start!
this really sucks, but at least i dont have to go in till 10:30am since they are taking the WASL and i passed that!
[/endrant]
on a side note, i got my '94 center console in last night!

That boot looks pretty good in there.
Sucks about the starting thing though. It'll crank, no fire? Does yours have VATS? I don't remember if VATS disables the starter though... _________________

ok, i lied, it does not run.... but the problem is the spark, i am going to replace the coil in a minute--ok, its not the coil.--there is no spark at the coil.

Ignition Module.
Do you have 12v power to the RED wires on the coil key on? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

oh ok, that makes alot of sense, i though you meant like i was dumb and took random stuff apart and didn't know how to put it back together or something lol btw, that sucks about that car

i just got home from school, but my dad drove it home today..it was in one piece!.. i realized that this has happened before, it wont start, then the next morning it will fire right up! would the "Ignition Module" do something like that?
(i have not even looked at the car today, so i can't say anything about the 12v on the red wire.) _________________ -Donald

Yes it would.
Before you replace it you should check the condition of the pickup coil. Check it's resistance. A chiltons book will tell you what it should be. An intermittent short in the coil will cause your condition. |

I've never seen anything in the chilton about the pickup coil. Just the ignition coil. Usually the pickup coil disintegrates when it goes bad. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| It takes two seconds to check it so check it. If you've ever had one go bad on you, you would know it can behave just like a bad coil. |

thats exactly what i was going to do!
now i just gotta try to get it started to get into the garage.....
edit: the next day
its inside!
so anyways at this point, for it to start, it has to be really cold, like it has to sit over night, then it will start right up, and it will keep starting while it is hot, but once it cools down a little bit, it will not start again till it stils for like 12 hours or more. _________________ -Donald

yes, there is 12v at the coil, but nothing at the white wire next to it?
whats the white wire suppose to be? its not really a ground either ( i made the mistake of thinking it was a ground, so i grounded it to make sure....well i got a HUGE shock when trying to plug the coil back in.
so how does this work? there is power to the coil, but something inside the distributor(ignition module?) tells it to give off spark? which is what the other cable on the coil is for? _________________ -Donald
