started drivin my camaro again finally last week.. well tonight with a friend and beating a crown vic with a 302 in it (pretty sure it was a tired engine or somthing) i was feelin good.. so i went down a road at about 90 mph (speed limit 35) forgot about the way it dipped down.. well i went in the air for a second came down and i was like "wow"..
well after all that as i was driving my driver side door started rattleing alot.. window still rolls down fine, door locks and opens fine.. but could you guy's give me an idea on what to look at? the passanger doors always rattled a bit, but my side's doin it worse now.. and it's REALY annoying next to my leaky t tops that i can poke my finger thru the weather stripping when the window's up.. |

Sounds like you've got a dumb ass problem in the drivers seat area. This can cause all kinds of problems with the car.
90 in a 35 is a no no. |

Aside from the obvious comments you're going to get about this problem (I wont add fuel to that fire), you need to pop your door panel off and take a look.
If it's a tapping metal-on-metal sound, I would say you probably lost one of the spacers that keeps the lock rods from hitting the door.
If it's a glass-on-metal sound, then you probably lost one of the alignment blocks that holds the window in when it's closed. Your comment about the t-tops seems to support this idea as well. |

If thats all it is it shouldn't be a hard repair. The metal rods should be in a plastic keeper. A hard bump, like taking it airborne lets say, might knock the rods out of the keeper. Just snap em back in.
here is a link from TGO that should help with all things related to door noises.

Thanks to flea for posting that link. I had it bookmarked on my other computer, but couldn't find it to post earlier.
JamesC has some excellent pics of the rods and window bumpers I mentioned. Chevy doors are easy to work on, but you have to be careful with the panel, because it's cardboard, and since you have a t-top it's probably had a few wet/dry cycles. |

If you have power windows use caution on the counterbalance spring, it is NOT user friendly!
Hopefully you didn't tweak the actual T-Top Frame around the glass or the lock!
There's a reason why my windows, T-Tops and doors don't leak, or squeak...And I bought the car new in 1983.
Treat it with some TLC and it will go along ways _________________

haha, a little humor, thank you jake.
and my car's pretty much stripped of any fancy features.. so it's not power..
the t tops arn't stock, got them from a jy, my old one on the driver side decided to not push the rod foward to lock and flew off on me when i was driving on the freeway.. i adjusted it the best i could, but the weather stripping isn't the best and that's why i can put my finger thru it.. |
