You can take it up as high as you feel comfortable. You max HP will just a little before redline usualy. It is just up there for a second, you accelerate up, then let right off.
Here is a video of my car on the dyno, you can hear I get it rolling at a cruise, then just open her up, and then let off.

Ya I was thinking of dong that but don't have a bunch of spare time really. I'm sending it out to New York to Rockland standard gear. They charge 350 plus parts. The one I'm sending I think is really messed up cause it's stuck in 4th gear and I can't get it out. Believe me I've tried.

The 3-4 Shift Forks are made of aluminum. While the 1-2 forks are also made of aluminum, the 3-4 is a much smaller dainty fork. They offer a Steel fork for around $50.
Wow all the way to New York?
My shop charges $350 + parts. It's a pretty standard rate. There has to be some place closer to do it?

The trans in rebuild form wont have a "break in" time. And millions of hot rodders build motors and break them in on the dyno for the initial fireup to tune it in.
If the motor is built right, it'll be broke in after about 30minutes of run time if not sooner, and you don't want to baby it. |
Yes I know all this but will have to see how my funds will work out since I'm still short a few odds and ends here and there. I still need a knock sensor module the 350 chip. The exhaust I'm going to run. Stuff like that. I may still make it. Its just really starting to get to crunch time for me.

If you're tuned well aka stock also the knock stuff isn't important. I've run w/o a knock sensor setup for years.

It will be mostly stock. Just the HSR with bigger injectors shorty headers with a catless y, 58mm throttle body, and the 350 bored over from rebuild. I think they said .30 over.

It's not uncommon. Mine got stuck in fourth on me right before it started kicking back out of third. There are a million articles on it at LS1Tech. |

Being stuck in 4th gear is broken syncro keys. Extremely common problem in a T56. No question that's what it is. You will not be able to get it out of gear no matter how hard you try until you disassemble it. And Paul is dead right, the 3/4 fork is very weak, and no question you bent it trying to get it our of 4th. That's why it's replaced with a steel one and solid keys even in most stock rebuilds, that's if the shop is interested in a good and long running trans, and not using stock parts that they know will break again. Don't think it's really messed up because of being stuck in 4th. Only cost me 3 keys and a shift fork to fix the 3/4 problem in the trans I bought.
Why in the world would you send the trans back to NY? Yes RSG is good, I have their long tail housing busing in my trans, only place you can get it. But why not have Paul's shop do it? His trans seems to be doing pretty good, and he can get the same upgraded parts RSG uses.
With the $250 you save on shipping you can go bronze fork pads, maybe even buy a nice short throw shifter with the money. And if funds are short, why waste them on shipping fees? Not to mention it will be 7 days shipping to get there, and another 7 days back. RSG won't do anything more than Paul's shop will. There is only so much you can do to a T56 and any good shop can do it, and so can any person with a little time and a few tools.

Yes I know about all these factors guys. I already have it set in my mind that I want them to rebuild it. Thanks for all the support and convincing to do it myself. Alloy, I already have two short throws for it. A b&m and a pro 5.0. I have the 5.0 on the one in the car right now. I think I'm going to switch back to the b&m with the rebuilt one.

9) Rodney will out-perform Chris' new motor. I think we will have a new rivalry started here, I predict someone will say their car weights less, and could beat the other car at the track... tutu..maybe?
Nah. He'll get traction before I would anyways. Bald tires suck.
I'd rather do Tutu part II against tony. That's a surefire win.
we'll see how I do on the rollers. I'm hoping for at least 260hp/280tq to the wheels.
If not, it may be time to stab a new cam in. something a little more......thumpy

I had a Comp XE 262 Cam, Pro Heads, HSR, 14:1 AFR, 3000rpm Converter and made 265HP. That was in '04. Wow it's been a long time!
You should be in the ballpark. We gotta get you fired and tuned!

Zero Deck .60 over 350, reworked Vortec heads, with the guides milled down and my springs, Lunati Bracket master cam, .468/.468lift, 218 .05 duration (110LSA), Comp 1.6 roller rockers, Air Gap, Holley 650 Double pumper.
Its actually pretty similar to what you have in your car, but I'm sure I have less cam than you
Is Jenn gonna dyno instead or something?
