So I mentioned in another thread that my Camaro had some sort of bad inbalance thing going on in the engine. Well today I busted her out of a pile of snow and took a look at it. The harmonic balancer seperated the outer ring from the hub and was just riding on there loose. I snagged the balancer off the GTA sitting here and she's good as new again.
Then I went sideways to celebrate!

Did you install it with a hammer?? At least it was a fairly simple fix. |

Actually, old ones do it sometimes. Rubber between the two pieces dries up and cracks. Not something to get too worried about though. |

You know the old 327 cranks didn't have a threaded hole. The specified means was installing with a hammer. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| I installed the new one with a hammer, at least until I could enough threads on the bolt engaged to run it on. Just hit the hub, not the outside ring. |

Good thing you caught that when you did. That could have been very nasty, and a much more expensive fix. _________________
