so i backed into a rock yesterday scraping a bunch of paint of the rear GFX so now all my GFX have missing paint so i decided to paint all of the GFX and the front and rear bumper....so my question is...how hard is it to remove the GFX and bumpers? is it just bolted on? its gonna save me a lot to bring them the parts then have them take them off

oh yeah i also need to know how to take the mirrors off...those need paint too

You're in luck. The GFX and Front Bumper are just bolted on. Fairly certain the rear bumper is just bolted on as well. just undo all the fasteners and they'll come off. the RS logo on the rockers are glued in place however.

And the mirrors are just bolted on as well, but you are probably going to have to remove the little black triangles at the front of the door inside to get it out. I'm not entirely sure on that.

Good luck.

thank goodness...i glad there isnt any spot welding....and if i have to i will just bring the car in seperatly to have the mirrors done if its to much of a hastle to get em off

when you say undo the fastners can they be reused? cause i had to fix my friends chin spoiler once and the fastners that it was held on by...it didnt look like they were easy to take off or removable haha

Well I had to put a new chin spoiler on my 91 RS as when I bought it the chin spoiler was *gone* I just used some bolts and washers and nuts when I put it on. I *THINK* the rocker panels are screwed into the bottom of the car. Shouldn't be to hard to take them off and put them back on, just get under the side of the car and you should see them right away.

The side GFX are secured under the rocker panel as well as in the door sill. There's also a "rail" in front and behind the door for the GFX to hang on and keeps it secured to the body. The doors have that same rail the whole lenghth of the door for the piece to hang on, once you undo the fasteners on the bottom side, the door trim piece "should" lift up and off. I haven't had the quarter panel pieces off the 92, so I can't help you there, but it should be a matter of just finding the right screws to remove Cool

Pretty much, find the right screws. Not a whole lot to it really.

Can you find your RPO codes? Usually under the center console arm rest or the door then go to thirdgen.org and find the RPO decoders. Should be able to find your paint color from there.

BTW: C9F: Paint Special (DK RED MET)

that's from thirdgen's RPO decoder. If you have problems post your RPO codes and I will decode them for you.

That RPO list might also be found on the cover of the rear storage compartment (that lockable one on the driver side). Paint code is generally on the very bottom, for example, my 89 has BCCC (base coat/clear coat), WA- L8774 U8774 (8774 is the code for GM Bright Red, the L and U are lower and upper for two-tone paint jobs). If you have that RPO sheet, it should be easy to find out.

Like Al, said, check in the rear locking cover (rear drivers side) Or barring there SOMETIMES they are stuck under the carpet which sucks. Other then that you can get your paint matched at a paint shop

Open your rear hatch and look to your left. There's a little cubby hole with a cover over it, this cover has a key, locking rear cover.

and the site i got that info from is:

In the cargo area, on the driver side in the plastic trim panel. Here's my system under construction, behind the sub, you can see where the locking compartment is.
