I need a 4wheel disc break mastercylender for the t/a. The shop wanted to charge me $375 OTD for replacement. Shocked

If I recall correctly, a disk/disk master is no different thatn a disk/drum master. Any parts store should have them. And remember to bench bleed it before putting on the car. Otherwise you will never get all the air out of it.
Be a good time to flush the entire brake system also Wink

Actually, if I recall the thread from TGO correctly, disc/disc is different.

Disc/drum has a larger bore then disc/disc. The end result of the discussion was to the one that gave you what you wanted, disc/disc for better feel through the pedal or the disc/drum for less less effort.

Now if I remember correctly, lol.... Anyway, I think everybody's right. Early on the master cylinders were different. Then gm had pedal feel complaints and switched them all to the same master.

I was told by the guy at midas that it would require a special mastercylender because they were different from disc brakes to drum brakes. The entire break system was just flushed about 1 1/2 months ago. The shop wanted $248 for just the mastercylender, is that a good price?

No.. just a quick check of the napaonline site got me this..

http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/search_results_cat.d2w/report?SUBMODEL=19%7CTrans+Am&BRAKE_SYSTEM=35%7C4+Wheel+Disc+Brakes&search_string=&org_string=

$29.99 if you dont mind a rebuilt unit. $104 for the 2nd line brand new. and $169 for the best brand new one.

Frankly the quality difference in the new ones is minimal.
