| That's what it looks like. Tony's LS1 Brake brackets from Ed have two different size bolts too. |

I'm going to do both of mine at 1/2". There appears to be plenty of metal around the dust shield bolts to allow this without any worries. Would you guys recommend drilling completely through the spindle or just enough to bury the bolt about 1/2" down?
How far are you drilling yours Al? |

| They are different sizes, the bottom bolt is a 14mm (thread diameter) for the through hole, and the top is 10mm for the blind hole. By the design, it looks like the bulk of the force is taken up by the larger bolt. |

Drill only enough to accept the bolt you're using. If your depth is that of the diameter of the bolt you've got enough engagement.
Drill the lower hole all the way through and tap the whole hole. The top one just drill enough to get the tap in and past the dia of the bolt. Since it wont be a bottoming tap (hard to do with these spindles) you'll drill something like 1/4-3/8" longer than the bolt length that gets in there.
Mine are both 7/16" bolts and no problems. 1/2 is probably overkill. I wouldn't do half on the top since there is a knub on the back of the hole that is allowing for the longer bolt. You'll see it. |

I'm going to try the instructions best I can and drill the blind hole (top) to its depth with an 8.5mm bit and tap M10X1.5 with a tapered tap followed by a bottom tap. Bottom hole gets drilled 12mm and tapped M14X2.0 (same size as the caliper bolts). |

| How is it going Al? I got my 1/2" 20 tap and drill yesterday. Also got some relatively short hex bolts Grade 8 of the 1/2-20 variety. I should be starting soon We seem to be at the same level right now. |

Having a friend pick up my bits and taps today from Tacoma Screw (Bremerton store's not open Saturday). I'll get them from him on Saturday and start in on it again |

With the exception of installing the banjo bolts, which I'll pick up from Ian tomorrow, passenger side is pretty much done. Seems to be a fairly straight forward swap after mods to spindles and rotors are done.
My progress so far...
Modified spindles...
With calipers..

The stuff was on the car when I picked it up, sometimes it makes it look an inch or so higher than it is |

After picking up the banjo bolts from Ian today, I pretty much finished up the swap. Bled the brakes, the pedal feels pretty firm. Drove up and over the hill I live on for the two or so miles to Firestone and have no immediate issues, but it does need an alignment again - I made the appointment for next weekend at Firestone (and to torque the strut/spindle bolts to spec).
All finished up...
Now I need to come up with some more funds to do at least a PBR swap on the rear |

Al, did you have any troubles with the spindle-bracket bolts hitting the caliper? My caliper won't go all the way on cause its hitting the bolt heads I have my hubs cut and one rotor for fitment. I'm thinking about clearancing the caliper bracket so it fits. _________________ E30
