Ever wonder who actually designed the T-RAM intake for SLP? I am not sure but I think this guy may have made them also.

All I can say is that I had a guy contact me three years ago offering 3500.00 via cashiers check for mine. They are rare. They are worth what some will pay for them. It isnt a cheap down and dirty mod witch we all love, but an investment.

Well, I wouldn't have accepted a $3500 check from Nigeria, either.

$3500 is utterly ridiculous.

$2000 is merely absurd.

The 3500.00 dollar wasnt from Nigeria, it was from a TGO poster with over 3000 posts. The other offers I was emailed were in the 2000.00 dollar range from members with about the same post count.

For me that'd be one of those, 'If I had cash to burn' situations where I wanted something to talk about but not actually use. Seems like there are a couple better manifolds out there. That one just looks funky-cool though.

Can I ask why you didn't accept 3500 for your intake?

$2000 would be a fair chunk of a pro-charger or another supercharger.

$2K? Not even if were expended uranium.

I did think long and hard about selling it.
I spent 7 years buying parts for my car before I put the new powertrain together. I bought the car in 1991. The new engine, transmission, suspension and tires were all installed at the same time in 1998. I lived through the years of the 5.0 mustang being faster than the IROC's and wanted to have a fast IROC becuase I am a chevy guy.

So fast forward to 2003, the LS1 cars were almost as quick as my enhanced IROC. Even with all the speed parts on my car it never felt polished. It needed a paint job. I was going to sell it and buy a ZR1 corvette. The intake was really the only thing special about the car. I made a general post on TGO asking what would some one pay for the T-RAM. Most posters said it sucked and was out dated. Then I started getting emails from a couple of fellas offering real money for it and all the accesories.
While I was debating selling the intake and the camaro it was involved in an accident. I had just finished washing it and left the drivers door open and my two year old son hopped in and popped it out of gear. It rolled down the driveway and the drivers door stabbed my wifes BMW in the left front fender. The drivers door was ripped off and the BMW's passenger side fender, and doors were damaged.

I didnt want to fix my car and always wanted a IROC convertible. So I bought a 1990 convertible with the intention of swapping the power train out of the 87 into the 90 vert.
My wife was still upset I made her sell her 2000 T/A becuase the childs seat didnt really fit in it. So I bring home the vert and detail it. That night my wife was quite until the detailing was done on the vert. She told me she wanted the vert the way it was and spend whatever it takes to fix the 87. So my 87 was repaired and repainted, T-Ram intact.

I could still off the T-Ram and buy a SC and HSR wich would put the car into the low 12's / high 11's. So this is the dilema. I hardly drive the car anymore, it's still an IROC, rattles, squeeks, scary at the limit. I am 6'4" tall and have a hard time getting into it and never get comfy driving it. The intake is the only thing special about the car except that it's one of the cleanest cars around. I still love the looks of the car but dont enjoy driving it anymore. But it is cool to go to a show and pop the hood. It also runs well and will plant you into the seat. With the 2500 stall it will bake the tires if you punch it at 45 MPH, and forget about nailing it in first gear, it will spin the tires untill you let up or when you 60+ MPH.

The only cars I would get rid of it for would be a 90's ZR1 or C6 corvette. Until then it gets driven about two hundred miles a year.

WOW I hope I never own a car that is meant to be enjoyed and not enjoy it. This is probably what i would do if I were you, sell the t ram if you can get good money like that out of it. Then buy a cheap tpi set up and slap it on the car and sell the car. Thats probably what I would do.

The thing about the T-Ram is that, there aren't many of them, BUT (there is always a but...), it was the intake that SLP put on the very few 3rdgen Firehawks. Sure it may not be the best intake available, or the prettiest. But, for those few guys with a firehawk, or someone trying to build a true firehawk clone, they have to spend big money to find one. Since they come up for sale so rarely, the guys who need one, have to come in with an over the top offer, or else they won't get it.

Lol, you guys crack me up. The link isnt for my T-Ram Wink

I have put about five thousand miles on the car since the engine was installed. It ate the tranny one week after the new engine was in, then, two years later and 4 accumulated months in the tranny shop later it has been reliable. The reason my two year old was able to pop the 700r4 out of gear was becuase of the tranny shop. Building this thing was a test of my patience.

When I went to pick up the first zz4 shortblock I noticed that the f'in crank was touching the floor. It had been dropped and with no oil pan to soften the blow, the bottom end broke the pallet and the crank hit the floor. Sent it back to Scoggin Dickey.

zz4 # 2. I put he heads on, cam, intake, headers, and dropped the engine in and hooked everything up. It started in the first couple of seconds and sounded mean. I drove from Bothell to Marysville on I5. The knock started while going north in Everette. I pulled the engine, plastic gauged the bearrings, couldnt find the problem. Sent it back to Scoggin Dickey.

zz#3 has been flawless.

Seems like everything I have done to this car has been a trial of my patience. But it does run well now, except that the valve springs are toast. One of the rebuilt tranny problems was downshifting into first at to high of a speed. Nothing like seeing 7200rpm and hearring valve float when you flatten the gas pedal at 60 MPH and drops into first gear Shocked

I could go on and on.

Some of you fellas saw my car at the go cart races in Bothell a couple years ago. It definately runs and looks good.
