Okay driving around in the jimmy today and it died.

Start checking things out at the carb and working back. Fuel pump is pumping, nothing coming out the feed line. Unhook the line to the pump, and it dribble out a little fuel.

Guage says 1/2 tank, put in 3 gallons, still no fuel comin out.

What in the tank could cause this?

is it an intake pump?

if is, you should check the connection between the pump, and the line.

if its an external pump, possibly something gumming up the line, or blocking the pickup.

I can't beleive you are actualy asking.... (or were you waiting for brandons reply. Wink)

Heh Sure dewey tell me what I already know, and yes I'm waiting for Brandon's reply.

The tank is designed for a carb with manual pump.

So there should just be some kind of pickup. The external pump I have turns on and sounds like it pumps, when I disconnect the pump from the line to the tank, it doesn't even gravity feed/syphon out.

First take the gas cap off and see if it pumps. Maybe the tanks not venting. There is a "sock" on the end of the pickup in the tank. Its supposed to strain the fuel. It can plug up too. If you think thats the problem.. take the gas cap off.. then apply compressed air to the fuel line going back to the tank. If its plugged it'll build up pressure, then blow the crap back out into the tank. If its really plugged, it'll really build up pressure then blow the sock off the pickup with a bang. If this happens just put an inline filter before your pump and leave it that way.

I did try it with the cap off and it didn't change anything. I'll bring the air compressor back over and check that out. Should be able to vent, its still connected to the charcoal canister and the returnline just has a screw in it.

Thats for the directional B- Cool

So I went out to work on it today.... clicked the key on.... fuel came out the line..... VERY slowely. So I blew out the lines.... got a steady stream to come out. Replaced the filter in the carb, cleaned the carb.... drove fine for about 2 miles... then it acted like it was running out of gas.... pull over.... tried to idle for a while then died..... let the pump pump for a bit.... fire it up... was able to go another 1/2 mile home.....

Still seems like there might be something restricting flow....

Guess it's time to pull the tank.

B, if the sock came off blowing it, you said to leave it that way... couldn't the sock get stuck in the pickup?
