Ok, so I am gutting a mid 80s Z28, and I have permission to take everything just as long as it will still roll. What all should I take?
Also, I ain't ever pulled an engine all the way out before. The most I ever done was set it on 4x4s to get the oil pan out. I cant imagine its too much harder, cut all the wires going to the engine, undo the rear tranny mount, and remove hoses, and away we go! My question is will a V-belt engine and tranny clear the radiator? Also, will I need to remove the distributor, or just the cap? |

What to take
Color matters Black goes for cash
Gray also I would take the enteior if it good.
Seat belts are also good. Almost the complete interior you can sell it off and make some money.
A/C delete system. Include the box and interior items. Sold mine for whtat I was asking.
Dash pad if mint
Computer and wiring.
Tail lights Grdi go for some money
Working hatch motor
Spoiler
All the GFX and bumper covers. If not cracked and in good condition.
Foglights are something slese to keep.
If it has a manaul trans get the pedals and the slave and all ataching hardware.
Dont cut the wiring take it off at the conectors. Then take the wiring.
Engine whould clear the radiator. Should just have to remove the cap
Get the radiator
If dual fans get everything include the wiring and both fan bracekts upper and lower. _________________ kurfbird

+1 to everything Bruce said.
I've only seen pics of the car, but my advice:
Grab the shift knob, boot, ect. Those are worth money.
Aftermarket wheel, stereo, all worth big resale money.
Pull the exhaust as far back as you can.
Grab the gauge cluster. It's the pre-85 so it's not worth much, but it's still kinda rare.
Crossfire hood = money.
My offer still stands if you need a hand pulling anything. I don't have anything beyond basic hand tools, but it's like a 20 minute drive out to Lakewood Tranny for me. |

Some things that were not mentioned.
I would check for a wonder bar and the size of the sways bars.
z28 steering wheel
center console lid
Do both your cars have posi? If your car does not you could swap the rear ends. Personally I would take everything I could if you have the room. Then sell the stuff you don't need. |

The offer of help is appreciated, but its me and my room mate, I think we can get er' done, but if your going to be available Tuesday, I might still need you. We only have Monday and Tuesday.
The steering wheel, its one of them with the Allen head screws holding it in, but they need a steering wheel in the vehicle when I am done (something about towing it) and i dont know if I can take that.
I know how to remove seats, what about seat belts and the other interior plastics? How do I rip em out? |

Apex tip socket removes the lower seat belts. 13 MM socket for the upper roof parts _________________ kurfbird

Get everthing including fenders door glass power mirrors.
Also overhead console if so equiped
They can still move it without the sway bars.
Get the steering volumn if you can and have keys. Make sure it has NO wobble. _________________ kurfbird

Gonna have to check with my boss about Tuesday.
Interior plastics are primarily phillips head and T-10 Torx, along with snap fittings.
BTW, your also going to want that dash pad if it's not cracked. |
