Used a floor jack to lift the trailing edge of the door, undid the upper hinge, then got the door positioned so the pin loose in the hole (really bad sag), and pulled the pin up with a set of channel-lock pliers. Looks like I have to replace the detent roller now too, it doesn't roll.
For those looking to do this, the pin & bushings are in the "HELP!" section, the ones they sell for our cars is part # 38402. That was too small for my car and I had to use the oversized kit, part # 38407. I also highly advise getting a door spring tool, makes life much easier. |
Al, what store did you buy these at or did you get them on line somewhere. I sure would like to do both doors but can't afford 150 bucks at this time, but i sure could afford 30 bucks!!!

Most parts stores have a "HELP!" section. I bought mine in West Bay Auto Parts' HELP! products line. It's the section where you find all the body panel fasteners and such. _________________ 92 Camaro

Did you only redo the bottom hinge Al? That looks like the kit for it. You can get it most anywhere.. Rebuilding the top hinge is the spendy one. |

Top hinge seems to be in decent shape yet. I still need to do the roller on the driver's side, that looks like either a GM part or one from TDS. _________________ 92 Camaro

My door was sagging bad, so I first bought the lower pin at autozone or one of those places. Got it in there, and it didn't do a thing.
So spent the money and got the TDK kit. Took about 45 minutes with my dremel getting the old one out. But once the kit was installed, my door was perfect again. It's been so many years since that door has closed right, I couldn't believe how easy of a fix it was.
I totally recommend getting the TDK kit. Plus they have grease zerks, so it'll last a long time. _________________ Get all your Car Audio questions answered at
