So i've been looking for a new car and i've come across a few that im intested in but every time i find something my dad says its over priced or he wont even think about going out and looking at it... I've found a Iroc-Z thats like 20mins from my house. Red, Black interior- almost flawless paint is really good. 167k on the odo, still has iroc rims on it good tires, 305 tpi, and 700R4, shits and sounds good. How much would u guys pay? my dad is saying me offering the guy 25 for it is way to much when he's asking 2900.

Was wondering what you guys thought about the pricing on camaros and it if it would b worth the 2500? And i tried to explain to my dad that the price of these things just keep going up because iroc-z's are getting more and more expensive

You're both right. It's to much for a car with that many miles, and a 305. Plus I'd bet money that with that many miles that 700R4 is just waiting to go tits up.

However you're right that IROC prices are shooting up. There are a few around for a decent price like this one:

but the average price is closing in on 5K.

I picked my 83 Z28 for $2,500 and it had a new engine and tranny. Needed paint, interior, and some suspension stuff still. so yeah. probably could have gotten it cheaper but in the end 2500 isn't that much for a car. Personally I would go for one with a 5.7L

Hold out for what you want. If all you want is a car that looks and sounds nice, then that one would be it! If you want one to build up and go fast in, wait until you find one w/ a 350 in it. 2500 is a fair price, a little on the high side for the miles though. 2000-2200 is what I'd be willing to pay for that, for the simple fact that after almost 170,000 miles you have no idea what the previous owner(s) have molested on it, and plenty of parts will have been neglected and needing replacement almost immediately (brakes, steering, suspension pretty much)

i would wait out for an iroc that has a 305 five speed or a 350 auto otherwise i dont think the iroc like that one is going to be worth very much, and imo it is a lot less desirable.

Third gens shoot up in price mostly because, rare ones aside, the owners end up putting a decent amount of money in them around this time frame.

I still have never had a problem being patient and finding one adult owned, low miles, for under 3500 that looks like showroom.

They are out there! Your dad is right on.
