So the story starts about 2 weeks ago when I see a car being parted out on craigslist that has a fiberglass hood and a notch back. I email him and he replies saying that he wants 100 for the hood and 150 for the notch back, he also stated every thing is in good shape with no cracks. Well it turns out he up off of exit 68 off I5, so despite the hour drive. I drive on up there thinking I am getting a steel on a notch back, and a decent looking hood. Well I get up there and the notch back has a very large crack, in it next to the window and it has been drilled for multiple spoilers. So I pass on the notch back, and start examining the hood which appears to only have a small amount of paint cracking. So I get the hood and drive home bummed out that the notch back was a pos despite the sellers claims.

Yesterday:
I started sanding at the hood trying to get it ready for paint a low and behold what do I find under that paint??? I'll give you a clue its not gold or pixey dust

Cracks Evil or Very Mad

Since I have worked in fiberglass for the last 2 summers before this one I am somewhat comfortable with doing this but it still a pain in the ass.

Today:
I went to Bobs paint land after work and got the fiberglass and resin. I then proceeded to pile up my supplies, and got to work.

The final results came out like this, which I am some what pleased with.

Too bad the hatch didn't work out but should be a nice hood when you are done. Nice work.

Did you buy that from a guy in Roy, Oregon?

If so, I think you snagged the hood I wanted.

He's parting out a 84 Z/28....thought about hitting him up for his glass hood.

You've got a hood down here.

This thread reminded me that I never grabbed you some pictures. You've got a PM.

I sent you one back Rod......

And.....I've thought about it.

I can take it with me when I come down for the Southern Oregon gathering.

Do you mind having it around that long?

That's fine, at least let you see it in person before you lug it back up there.

Did you guys see the fiberglass hood on the project car in Chevy High Performance....September issue?

It's a glass hood and it came apart at the seams at 90mph. Thankfully it didn't hurt anyone in the process.

if it was a stock 82-84 glass hood... they should have known that was a problem with some of them ... hell there was a recall that was still effective in the mid to late 90's for those hoods Laughing Laughing
