The mail was kind today, got my 327 case and r/p to upgrade my gears (i have 277's).
I can pop these in (with new bearings, etc.) and take a spin, correct?
OK, a pro can install it and then I can go for a spin!
No need for anything else, correct? _________________ Ore89IROC

not quite.
3.27s are a 3series gear. currently your have a 2serries carrie, so you will be needing a 3serries carrier.
also, you need access to a press for the carrier bearings, and pinion bearing.
Then you need a dial-indicator to check backlast, and a pinoin depth tool. (unless you can eyeball pinion depth (elbows brandon))
Hope that helps. _________________

you will have to see if they have the correct gears for you car, you do have to pull the tranny to change gears.
if you have the carrier, and gears, a good shop should be fine doing it. be warned, there will be alot of $$$ in labor. |

Do you have to pull the tranny to change the speedo gear? Mine is not factory but the housing just unbolts and you put the new plastic gear in and seal her back up.
GM should have the tranny gear - they are diff colors for diff rear end ratio's (I forget which color is 3.27). I ordered mine from Forte's and it was like $20 - $25.

No you don't have to pull the tranny if its an auto. You do if its a manual. |
