and i think it is brilliant. Cool

Check out ebay sometime... A fully complete (In great condition) KITT car sells for over $25,000 all the time, also people pay one of the Biggest Conversionists around $50,000 just to build them. From an investment point of view, its a great thing to do.

Just my 2 cents. Smile

So boys, if you want to get a ridiculous amount of money for your third gen tranam/firebird/formula, invest about 10 - 15 grand to convert then sell it Smile.

If there's anyone you want to be talking to locally about KR cars, I'd be talking to 'miamivice' aka Farshin. The resident KITT conesoure (sp?)

thanks but no thanks. Smile

my first conversion was an 82 trans am. it was ok for a while but developed to many problems. it served it's purpose though.
this time around, i thought i should start with a better car.
what better than an 89 gta? i have to do more to it than i did with the 82 but this will be a much better car to have in the long run. Very Happy
i didn't actually plan on using an "89 gta", it just turned out that way. finding a nice 3rd gen where i live is tough. the ones you do find are pretty beat up. this one was pretty nice though. it still shows it age a little, but considering the other stuff i've seen, it was worth it.
if i hadn't had bought this one, a guy at a car lot downtown has a nice 89 trans am for sale. it's a hard top though....got to have me some glass! Cool
it's actually a really nice car. i thought about getting it just to get it, then if i had to, i could resell it.
....my wife would kill me though.....

if i come across anyone who's looking for a car, i'll send 'em your way! Very Happy

i think miamivice is also a member on the knight registries site. he doesn't post a bunch over there though, but i see his name every now and then.

I'd rather see a base model Firebird than a GTA turned into a KITT clone.

but to each his own....

(knight rider = Thumbs down)

just my .02

You and me both. As for a KITT "kit" car, I could list a plethora of a better ways to sink money into a thirdgen. I am sure certain people in a certain somewhere pay out the butt for the car they want, as we say in the car business, there is an as* for every seat. But that is one unique car item I wouldn't personally want to be waiting for a buyer on, especially if you were unable to complete the project and were trying to sell a half completed KITT car for near 10 grand.

Just my .02 cents as well.
