Scott,
I can't help you with the tuning but your pics look great. Usually 640x480 is just right for the message board.

Glad things are getting better Thumbs up

Thanks
Next time I will try and figure out how to make them that size.

So Since the table above only goes to 5,600 RPMS,( see small 2nd half) what happens above that????
I would like to go to 6,000 RPM max.

Thanks
scott

I would bring the full timing at WOT in by 2500 RPM. Just keep your timing constant at say 32 (that you have there now), from 2500 on.

Dumb question...???
where is WOT on the number?
left is RPM
Top is MAP

Are you saying that on the left , see 2800 RPM's , all across and up values should be 32 degrees ??

Maybe this is a Dumb question...

thanks

No, the 100KPA side (the far right). Ramp it in from idle to 2500, then keep it at 32 from 2500 on.

Well,
Still haven’t got that ram air hood yet, its been a nightmare, 2nd hood on the way.
It’s been a pain to get this straightened out. Should have been here Dec, 18th,, what a bunch of crap on that hood....

So what do you guys think about this timing table.
I just offset it by 6 degrees from the stock table. I don't know where to change it nor do I now how to read it. I wish I knew how it related to running the car, no load, load, MAP. Stuff like that, left to right, or up and down....? Looking for some help.

Data logged yesterday.
Very cold day. Noticed knock count at around 1 all through log,
Also noticed Vehicle speed at zero in data log ???? Any ideas??
If the computer thinks zero MPH , how will this effect the car going down the road??

No spitting, running ok.
Wish I new more, so I new what to do with the data logging stuff.
So I may be renting a tow dolly, any thoughts on how to tow the car? Front on dolly or back on dolly??? This is for the Dyno…

Rolling Eyes

Thanks
Scott

Sorry Scott, I had a busy weekend, I didn't get a chance to sit down and modify your table. I still have your e-mail. Chances are, it just needs some smoothing out. I'll look at it today.

BTW,

Here is what my old spark table looked like. I have tweaked it a bit, but notice how smooth it is compared to the stock table.

Scott. I'm not tremendously familiar with the SD code... but in all the MAF codes there is a constant/tabl;e that is something like coolant temp spark correction bias, also coolant temp spark correction disable temp.

There is spark correction vs load vs coolant temp.

These things are for tuning your cold startup. Once you get to say 133ºF You need to have the temp for this and the table zeroed out. Otherwise you wont get a proper spark reading.

The second thing to do... is in the maf sections there is a power enrichment spark advance.

It means when you're in power enrichment.... there is a table for that.... it adds the given spark in the table atop that rpm.

What I like to do.... is put all the PE spark advance to Zero... and run all my timing straight off the timing table. It makes the engine a bit smoother on the transition.. because when you hit PE you don't have this surge of spark.

Then make your table smooth. I typically don't "tune" my timing table you might say. I'll find a nice warmed up idle temp. I run 34º as based on several dyno runs on my combo. Then I'll ramp it in by 3000rpm, and smooth it out. If you've ever had a vacuum advance you can understand how and where to add timing.

Give yourself a base curve just like a mechanicall dizzy. Say that 6ºbase timing.... ramped up all RPMs to 3000RPM where you have your full timing in.

Then as the load would decrease for each rpm cell... ad a dash more timing starting about the 85kpa cell. etc. With vac advance, no vacuum no additional advance. Higher the vacuum the more advance.

It's definitely an art.

Here are some spark examples. The first one is Mike's Miniramed 383

The second one is my Stealthramed 350

Mike's engine likes spark even more than mine does, but I know I can increase mine in the cruise areas and be okay. I've had to go through an entire tuning process for everything just from changing from a th350 to a t56.

Like i said before though... you have have spark tables overlapping that which makes it very hard to figure out if you have a SMOOTH timing table.

So zero those out and go from there.

Just always backup your work! LOL

So what do you mean by over lapping?
Where the next point in line is actually lower than the previous one.???
So Just smooth it all out?

I mean you have your main spark table there.

There are other tables that adjust the spark also. So what you see if your main spark table could be added to, or subtracted from based on what other tables are doing.

IE Spark advance vs coolant, etc.

What he means, is that you have more than just that table. You have several diffrent spark tables being used. So the shape of the final timing curve, is based on more than just the table you are showing there.
