Still havent heard from the body shop. But, I'm allready starting on the next mod. Putting OD back into the formy. A 700R4 doesnt look near the same in a box.

For a "complete" overhaul kit it sure doesnt contain much. Not even the band. Guess I have a few more things to order. I also have a Superior shiftkit and "The Beast" sunshell coming. Just got the manual for the trans today. Never had a 700 open before... looks like fun.

I'm with stupid I've seen them split, but never done anything in one. It's a jungle in there. If you're going for a full rebuild and a shift kit, why not just go with the Probuilt kit for $450? As far as I know he gives you a full rebuild kit, the sunshell, and a TransGo shift kit too.

I've rebuilt several of them and found that the hughes performance rebuilt kit was the coolest thing! Had all the alto race steels and added clutch packs and came with a kevlar band Wink

The Superior kit actually has more pieces then the transgo. It comes with the vette servo, sleeve, boost valve, all the springs etc. Cost me $104, the overhaul kit with clutches etc was $110. Beast is $51. So I'm still going to come out ahead of the probuilt setup.

Ya, I looked that hughes kit over pretty well too. There's a few more parts I'm going to pick up either at work or maybe bulkpart. Like a new band.. just doesnt make sense to me that a "complete" overhaul kit wouldnt have a band. This thing would probably hold up fine completely stock behind my motor anyway. I just want to have a bit of insurance.. and you never know when I might change engines. Never seem to wear out a combo before I get tired of it.

How is it on the performance end? Is it comperable to a TransGo, or more like a B&M?

From what i've researched its supposed to be as good or better then the transgo with very similar performance. It's definatly more complete, but seems more geared towards the professional then transgo. Not sure it even comes with instructions lol. It appears to work like the transgo in that its not just a stiffer spring and block the accumulator type kit like b&m.

BTW the Napa transmission parts are manufactured by Allomatic. Which appears to be a major manufacturer as well.

Just tried to look up the shift kits on napa's site. A few days ago they listed Transgo, Superior, and B&M kits... Not by name but you could cross to the part #. Well.. now they only show B&M kits.

This is the kit I ordered though. Should be a nice stout better then stock type kit. http://www.superior-transmission.com/products/high_performance/7004r-hp.htm

Believe it or not, Superior has also changed their site since I ordered the parts. They now have a kit better then the one I got too..

Cool. I'm going to have to keep that in mind when I decide what to do with the IROC tranny.
