Well I found a 85 trans am with a rear disk and manual tranni, it was a 350 car, that’s what he is saying.
Is this car anything special as far as the rear is concerned? Must be a series three carrier???
Maybe 373 gears stock??
Why would a 85 trans am have a 350 and rear disk????
Kind of old side for that stuff isn't it, to be stock equipment?

Do you think its posi??
I just want the rear and tranni maybe.....

Thanks
Scott

I don't think there were any 350's in 85. Get the vin number, that will tell you what motor it had stock. No way to know the gears without the RPO sheet, but more likely 3.23 or 3.08, or 2.73, 3.42 if you are lucky. Unless he changed them, i strongly doubt it is a 3.73 rear.

Quite a few of the older L69 5 speed firebirds were 9-Bolt 3.70 rears (wasn't Barts firebird 3.70 w/disc?).

Definitely wasn't a factory 350/5 speed car though. That has been beat to death.

Barts car was modified by Paul. It was 1LE disk, 3.73 10bolt with an aftermarket Posi.

G = L69, so you got the HO 4-barrel. Dunno where you got that BC code, but it might mean a carbed car as opposed to the LB9 TPI engine.

Other than that, the VIN decoder says it all checks out as an '85 Trans Am out of Van Nuys.

Oh and TGO says that the '85 L69 w/T-5 did actually come with 3.73's:

BTW, I use this decoder: http://www.geocities.com/fbodyvin/

You need the .NET framework, so you'll either need to download it, or upgrade your XP service packs.

If its an HO car then it has a 3:70
T/A's w/L69, stick & G92=Very Rare!
Add WS6 and you have a collector
I have one Cool

If you saw disks it may very well be a WS6 car, rear discs were std in 85 with the WS6

Here is a rundown on the 9bolt, scroll down, great info

http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic414786.htm

An LB9 would come with a 3:27, got one of those too Very Happy

Dude, slap that T-5 and those gears behind the Z28's engine with an HSR, and it would be one hell of a lethal combo. Thumbs up

if he's selling the whole car, it might be worth taking the whole thing. (..I just am not a convertable fan..)
