paul - because there are a few strength bends in it (i think). plus this way he can overlap with the original steel. plus it will be more "pure-ist" this way. a little more proffesional in my opinion. this is how i would do it if ihad to repair a chainsaw hole Shocked

no problem Rodney i understand now. no picture is needed. i completly understand. my sawzall should have no problems Wink i have added it to my shopping list.

are you going to re-do the door properly (as properly as somthing like that can be) or are you going to seal it up completly?

Tony-

Since you know what Rod's looking for, I"ll let you do most of the cutting.

Jake-

Forgot to let you know in the PM.. I have the passenger side taillight housing. My 85 Z/ had its busted up on the drivers side so I put the ones off the 84 on it. I do have the wiring and a couple extra bulbs for them. let me know if you're still intrested in it.

Thanks Tony.

When I do this I plan on removing the electric in tank pump and putting in a proper pickup for a carbed engine. I should never need back in there so I will seal it permanantly.

Chris-
no worries about the tail-lights, sail panels, or wiper stuff. i would like the roofliner pad if you are just gonna throw it away if its for a solit top car. I was just getting greedy. but yeah i can pick it up at bobby's place next weekend if that works for you.

will do jake.

I'll leave the pad with Bobby when I see him monday. Do you need the Dome light also? I can throw that in with it.

Hammer--

Does $20 for that whole back area you wanted sound ok for price? I can give it to you at Cows.

Were gonna look in depth to see what "clearence" issues might arrise(I.e. hitting brake lines, fuel lines, the gastank) we might cut it tomorrow, we might not. just want to see exactly what were looking at.

for the record the brake lines are no where near it. we also have about 2 inches before we hit tank. i have grinder skill so i don't think it will be an issue. but we will hafta be reeeaaallll carefull over that sending unit piping. Shocked we only have about an inch of clearence there.

Jake---

where on the floorboard did you want exactly? I'll pull the dome light, and all the wiring. It worked in my car. It's missing its lens and has a small broken tab. It could be glued back together. The actual part that holds the bulb is in great shape though.

there was some rust on the passenger front floor pan where it meets the toeboard (looks like a water leak from a while ago). The drivers side floor has a HUGE dent just behind where the drivers seat is. (looks like someone jacked the car up by the floor, or high centered it) Tony took some pictures while we had the carpet out..hopefully he'll post those up so you can see what were talking about. I'll let you decide then if you still want it. We didn't cut anything yesterday, just because we wanted to see what were looking at and determine what's useful and what's not.

For now I"m putting any cutting on hold until I see what kind of shape Bobby's berlinetta is in. Most of the cutting will probably be done next week or shortly thereafter.

If anybody needs other sheet metal, I'll go ahead and note it. If you still want it, I'll go ahead and cut Rod's piece and your piece next week. (I thing Farsian wanted part of a rear quarter too...)

yay, pictures...

ok. here is how the interior looked when i got to chris'. he had been working on it for a few hours allready.

and here is a shot of the backside.

like chris said once we got the carpet out it was a major buzzkill. this is the passenger floorpan. also, that blue sill pannel was from the 85. we did not do that. Shocked

the driver one was about the same. the passanger side front floor is not in that great a shape eather. there is a rust hole thgrough the floor. this screwdriver was resting on the catalytic converter. this is the only rust in the interior of any significance.

there was also a fun dent in the trans tunnel from the tranny hitting it. also, it looks like there is extreme rust in the bottom of this fram, but that is not a hole, it is a piece of black paint. that part is prety solid.

we also got to the bottom of the engine situation. here is my hypothosis:
the catalytic convereter we removed dumped honeycomb garbage all over the place. it was shot. chris also pointed out a peice in one of the air tubes. i looked and also saw a piece completly clogging the rear passanger side exhaust manifold outlet. i asked chris and he confirmed that the dead valve was on the same cylander. bingo. turns out he had allreadyt discovered the same thing, and reached the same conclusion, but damit i felt smart.Very Happy here is a shot of the cat.

when we pulled up the carpet we also found two verrryyy old condoms. one expired in june 1994 Exclamation
here is a photo of them

and of course an engine bay shot

thats all from tony's photo vault for today.

Plug wires -- What's they story on them? They look sorta like MSD's in the pic.

Driver's side hood hinge (NOT the gas shock) -- Is this in good shape?

Interior -- Is it all the same tan color as the carpet?

it's not tan... it's faded black. most of the interior plastics are grey, but have all been painted black Ewwwww the hood hinges both work, and are not bent. the boot is going on the berli when it gets the 84s T5.

Cool. How much for the driver's side hinge shipped to 98418?

Also, are the interior sail panels black or grey?

If they are grey, I'd like them. Especially the drivers side. Some Car Toys monkey or someone did a hell of a job on both of them trying to install the rear 6x9's. Rolling Eyes

And to top it all off, when I took off the panel to fix the drivers side seat belt spring, I lost the screw that holds on the top part, so now it's just hanging. Embarassed

Nope. I can't get the ball off the shifter, so you'll have to take the whole shifter. How about $1?. Are you gonna be at Cows? If you are I"ll give it to you then (unless of course you need it ASAP).

(in an unrelated story, there may be another crewbie working for shmucks.....me.)
