My dad has an 84' Chevy C20 that he uses for a work truck. It's a carbed smogger 350 with a single 2 1/2 exhaust. Mostly stock, except for a no cat or smog pump, and the carb is running rich as hell.

The old muffler that was on the truck had actually started to bulge out, and so, assuming it was clogged, he bought some cheap OEM chevy V8 muffler and clamped it up. Problem is, this one has started to bulge out as well. We've debated various ideas like a glasspack and a resonator, or running a turbo muffler on it.

Right now the truck is just a junker used for work, and we don't want to put any more money into it than we have to, so dropping $70 for a Flowmaster or something is too much. Is there a cheap quiet option that I've overlooked here? Or should we just slap a Cherry Bomb on there and call it good?
