Pass. side is starting to audibly leak pretty bad. I know they had problems with it before, because there are two different types of gaskets on eaither side. Rolling Eyes

Should I just swing by the local Shucks and buy a set of Fel-Pro 1404's, or should I spend money on this so it doesn't blow out again?

Heads are stock, Headers are some Edlebrock make without any AIR tubes (not the newer ones they sell now).

The 1404 type gasket should be great. I buy a gasket thats quite similar from napa that they call nitroseal. Very tough, even if the bolts back off they don't burn out.. Just tighten them up again. Not sure what shape the O-ring is on your headers. Thats the raised welded area that actually contacts your head. You need to buy a gasket that has the same shape as the O-ring to get proper seal. In other words if its a round weld around the port get a round ported header gasket. If its square get the square ones. Otherwise the gasket gets too thin in the corners and will leak.

Ian -- I've been going to the one on 56th and Pacific, but service there is so incredibly crappy, that I've started going to the Baxters (old Pacific National) on 40th and Pacific, or the Napa on South Tacoma Way.

chevy -- I haven't checked these, but I'm pretty sure they're going to be round. Most every Edelbrock header I've ever seen is round.

Laughing My old boss runs that store. He just took over. He drives the blue vette. His name is Arly and he's pretty knowledgable about chevies so if you have any questions he's a good guy to go to. If you happen to get helped by him tell him I said hi and he needs to show me the vette since he got the motor/trans in.

If you're ever in the north end come to the 6th and Pine schmucks and I'll hook you up with whatever. Just look for my bird right out front. I usually park right in front of the door so I can look at my car when it's slow. Laughing

BTW, I couldn't make it out to the JY. Ended up having to hit up poulsbo/silverdale for some errands.

I am glad to know I am not the only one who does that. I try to park in a section of the parking lot at work, where I can see my car from my desk. Very Happy

Dude, I asked him one time about that Vette. It's a real nice looking car. There was another older guy who was running that place for awhile, and he was kind of an asshole. One time he kept me waiting for five minutes while he was on the phone with a friend. Like it would have killed him to spend 30 seconds ringing up the $2 bottle of windsheild wash I was buying.

Yeah, he's got a REAL mild 383 (think about 280hp to the wheels) and one of those keisler 5 speed swaps done. I kept trying to convince him to swap 6speed but he's one of those write a check for a magazine "kit" guys. He does his own wrenching but I don't think anything is custom on that thing.

There are so many of these guys that just yak on the phone to other stores it pisses me off. Like that guy that was helping you today. I freaking hate him.

Laughing I get tons of that in auto parts stores. Some guys are real good though. I forget the guys name, but I belive he's still the assistant manager at the 56th store; big guy, he always does a good job.

Hell, some of the time you're lucky if you can even get the right part. One time my Dad went into the 56th st. store for an air filter, and the blonde behind the counter tried to sell him one for a heavy-duty dust application. Damn thing was about six inches high. Rolling Eyes
