and I actually liked it
5 spd, tungsten grey with the interior upgrades and the red leather seats...
8 way adjustable seats are pretty nice, comfortable.
Impressively, the backseats have less room than an F-body
Maybe it's just my want to really be wanting a V8 RWD again, but for now, it was nice...
Test driving a GTO on Wednesday though, should be err... fun... _________________

Don't feel bad... I go around to dealerships quite often just to beat on something new. A couple months ago I went in and said "I've just inherited a large chunk of change and am looking to blow it on something fast." They didn't have anything on the lot, but called me later on saying "we just got in this beautiful 2004 Mustang GT with a 5speed", I drove it a few days later. 30-110mph came a lot quicker than I expected. lol 110mph is when the salesman said "just a warning, but the cops sit on the side of the road up here".
I never was impressed with the GTO I drove. I was more impressed with the '04 Grand Prix GTP, the paddle shift on the steering wheel was definately fun.

LOL, sales people HATE that... then again, who likes sales people anyways
I was sort of unimpressed with the 05 'vette (I think it was a Z06).. the ride was pretty harsh, and there was no skill involved in driving the manual (no gas needed, just dump the clutch and go).
If the ride were less harsh (read: feel less of every pebbles on the road) I may have enjoyed the ride better... but since most people who get vettes arent looking for a cruiser more so than a performer, I have to say... I've never gotten to 120 so fast in my life! |

Now now, not all car dealers/sales people are horrible. But there is a reason why my father is a buyer for Lithia and Barrier of Bellevue, not a crew chief. And, why I work for him, not a dealership.
I still can't believe that salesman fall for that I've inherited money line, we get that all the time here. I've got so many tri year chevy/60's muscle car wannabee owners who tell me they've got money and want to buy it, drive it first though.
I look at them and tell them straight out, Pay me first. Then we drive.
NO one test drives our muscle cars or cycles without cash.
I am all for screwing with the big lots, they are out to get your money anyways.
I like the new stang, wouldn't go near the new GTO. _________________

just curious... what exactly is so wrong with the new GTO? at current prices it's the best bang for the buck car out there in the price range...
Mustang GT is 30k, 300hp/320tq and a 5spd (with a nice interior, etc)
GTO is 31k with 400hp/390tq and a 6spd (reasonable interior)
Charger R/T is 30k with 350hp/390tq (5.7) or 38k with 425hp/420tq
out of the three, the GTO also averages a much better city/hwy mpg than any of the group
the Charger with either V8 also is not available with a manual _________________

| next year is supposed to be the last production year... imagine a 3 (or 4?) year production run car in 5 - 10 years from now, and trying to find parts for it... heh. Plus since they arent being made anymore the aftermarket for them may dwindle to a nil... the GTO you could probably get for less than 31k if you talked the salesperson down too though for those same reasons. |

parts for it are easilly obtained from Holden if needed, that shouldn't be a problem, they're continuing the Monaro on the same platform until Zeta is finally done and ready for the market (which should have been this year before GM fucked it all up)
I'm sure I can talk down a GTO to about the cost of a used one if I really need to, because we all know damned well they aren't selling and the dealers know it too _________________
