What the heck is that monstrosity? Shocked The only machine I ever have seen race with that kind of wing combo was back in the old IMSA days. My favorite series was the old closed-cockpit IMSA of old, so I will share a few pics of those super-nice looking machines. They just looked fast, even if they were parked. Twisted Evil

My favorite (although the Nissans came in a close second) was the Chevy/Lola Intrepid GTP:

I still have this poster, signed by both drivers. This was my favorite color scheme for them too. A very hot car:

Ya, that's pretty accurate. I didn't follow rally-style racing until a few years ago. Pretty fun stuff to watch though. Yup yup

Sweet posters, I still am stuck on the older closed-cockpit design though. Shrug

I completely ignored my favorite form of racing; CART. Much of my family hails from the Lehigh Valley in PA (Nazareth, mainly) where a certain other well-known racing family also lives. I've therefore always been a fan of the Andrettis, having met them several times when they've been in town over the years. They are still a very nice, grounded family despite their status, and despite making a living going 200mph. So, without further ado, here's a few shots I dug up:

Mario going around a corner at speed. You can almost reach out and touch it:

Michael mowing the grass in the Festival Curves at PIR during the '98 race. The crash was initiated by Paul Tracy, IIRC. I was sitting directly across from where these pics were taken, about 5 rows up. This was a fun race to watch. Smile

A few seconds later, Michael's teammate Christian Fittipaldi is giving a "what the hell was that" gesture to Tracy.

See anything wrong with Adrian Fernandez's Tecate car? Shocked

Here's Alex Zanardi celebrating his win by pulling some "brodies" Razz on the front straight.

Here's Michael passing at the '99 race. I didn't make it to this one. Sad

Now the '97 race was fun. Nothing I enjoy more than a race at PIR in the rain. Very Happy

Here Michael contacts another car as they kick up spray, and Vasser goes off-roading:

Did I mention it was a wet day? The rooster tails were big on the straights:

At last year's race, Paul Tracy made a couple messes (I've noticed he is one of the most dangerous people to drive next to in all racing):

Here is Michael in 2000, leading the pack at my favorite track, Long Beach.

He didn't win though. He and teammate Christian Fittipaldi both retired with engine fires about 15 minutes apart. Shocked

Of course, the Andretti's have spent their time racing in Camaros, as seen here:

[homer]Mmmm, IROCs... [/homer]

I love this photo:

For the Lama, pretty Audis:

Last but not least, a couple shots of a Team Oreca Viper Cool

Nice Kelly!

I was at the '98 race as well - that was a blast. I believe that big pile up was on the green flag IIRC.

I will have to update my sig pic to include the white monster Wink

Thanks Schultzy, but don't feel obligated to go to any trouble for "the beast", lol. I kinda showed up late to the photo shoot, after all. Embarassed I musta driven several miles down the wrong side of that Y in the road, enjoying the curves, before I hauled ass back to find the rest of the group. Embarassed
