Anybody else flabbergasted when they see someone do a nice LS swap, then put an edelbrock carb on top of it?? To carb one alone seems crazy, but to use a standard edlebrock after buying the fancy intake and msd ignition setup... Confused Seen it a couple times now on the international 3d gen fb page.

Some people just like the edelbrock carbs. It's stupid. Just like rad blowers - with crap carbs on top.

F-'in old timers. Laughing

Well.... I'll take a giant blower with a couple afb clones. Wouldn't expect it to perform like a modern motor, just look good.

But to actually go through the trouble to swap in an LS and then bastardize it. Just doesn't make sense. They probably even had to either regulate or remove the high pressure fuel pump. LOL

Edelbrock carbs seem to be strongly favored by the Grandpa/carshow/idiot set. Gen-3 and 4 smallblocks have dropped in price to the point where they have become the defacto cool-kid swap, but said old guys/idiots never learned how computers work, or how wires work, or how Holley jets work, or how anything works really, so $600 to Summit Racing for an Endurashine and a billet MSD and the vicious cycle continues with tales of "hard to start" and "8 miles per gallon" and "eye-watering idle" and "this is just how old cars are."

It really is good shizzle. People put as much thought into their auto parts purchase as a squirrel building it's nest. Shiny = me wantee.

Edelbrock has really cornered their target market. If you want to bolt on a carburetor and never touch it, an Edelbrock right out of the box will run and probably won't blow your shizzle up.

It's not a carb vs fuel injection thing either; these same people generally can't be arsed to figure out how a Quadrajet or a Holley works. The extent of their hotrodding ends at the shiny, cheap, no learning or critical thinking required Edelbrock.

Typically they will run, but I often see Edelbrocks tuned shockingly lean out of the box which is some bad news bears.
