My wife drives it 5 miles to work. It's north of 60 mpg on that trip. Two miles to fetch groceries is almost all battery power. W
On the highway it's only low to mid 40s. Nothing to write home about.
In this case it was 1 year old used, and cost about what other cars she was looking at did. But some of those would have been much more fun.
Just to make Aaron scream in his granola, new camaro and challenger were two she was eyeballing, where as all I could see was no more days off for me. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

Wow flea, I didn't realize people saving money on fuel was such a sore spot.
I get what you're saying, and I think maybe ten or fifteen years ago it was true. People were making the statement that spending more money to dump nickel into the ground instead of dumping CO2 into the air was going to save the planet. That is, and always has been, utter foolishness.
But now the Prius is an utterly ubiquitous econo-box for pretty much anyone in the city. You are correct that on the highway they have no great advantage, the only gains coming from the aerodynamics and the Atkinson cycle engine at low load, but in the city when the engine never even turns on they can't be beat by anything bigger than a dual-sport.
If it's any consolation to you flea, people trying to save the species by conserving fossil fuel are missing the point. We'll run out of drinkable water before we run out of oil.
Also, the new Camaro and the new Challenger are both two-ton monstrosities that you can't see out of the back of. |

Lots of things are a sore spot.
Yes you are correct about the visibility of both of those cars, with the challenger being the worst of the two. And speaking of two, that's the number of tons they weigh. But still fun to point your toe to the floor. Grocery getting practicality. ..not so much. CVT weird. Pressing the start button, hearing nothing...and driving away, weird. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

You know an accord hybrid is nearly 2 tons? 3550lbs to be exact.
New cars are fat. Been mostly watching jeep stuff lately so I've seen the new cherokee and renegade. New renegade is the same weight as your hybrid, and its tiny. The cherokee weighs as much as my solid axle made of steel wrangler. It's over 4k lbs. And its no big car either. We're just adding too many things to new cars these days.

Screw oil shortages, it's Google robots that will destroy civilization!
New car weight and size is getting out of hand. I parked next to a new 2WD single-cab Tacoma at the hardware store the other day. Thing was a foot larger in all dimensions than mine for the same usable space in the bed and the same cab size.
That said, a new Prius is 3K and a Yaris is 2.5K which is pretty damn good considering.
Speaking of Honda, didn't they pretty much throw their entire hybrid setup in the trash and start over?

Any pics of Andy's car? I haven't seen it since he had that clearcoat go sideways and screw up the whole job. |

Cx5 is 3500lbs. Fun to drive. Awd and high 20s in mpg. I'm good. Oh yeah.... and one battery. If you're all in town, get a volt or leaf and shut up. Prius is a waste of resources. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I went to a Facebook thirdgen meet with Aaron the other day and that reminded me to come check out what the cool kids are up to.
I've been pretty boring, the Camaro is exactly the same and I see no need to change a thing on it.
I put load airbags, onboard pump, trailer brake controller and a hitch on my truck a few months back and I've been towing broken Subarus to my house. Bought a 16 foot dovetail car trailer. It tows like a dream, I even hauled a Crown Vic a few miles with no problem.
I bought a '99 Legacy GT about 6 months ago to use as my daily driver, a naturally aspirated 2.5L. Apparently I couldn't live without boost so that thing is getting a WRX engine and harness swap with a 2.2L turbo build.
The new Subaru engine:

Hi guys good to see everyone is still at it!
I said say la V to the cts-V a few months back because I was spending to much time on that and not touching the camaro or doing really anything else other then tinkering with the v
So when someone came along and offered a really good price for it, it went down the road. First time I made a bit more then what I bought it for!
Sounds like the two wheeled bug has bitten a lot of people around here and I am not excluded. I find myself out doing harescrambles with my trusty cr250 and having a good time on my Vrod. Always had a love for two wheels just found it all over again.
I am just finishing up a list of mods to my Vrod and I plan on getting started on the camaro once again. I would love to get it ready and have it out towards the latter portion on the season. If nothing else just to take it out for a parts run for novelty lol
Just been so busy at the shop and running a business with the old man. As you guys know time has a habit of slipping away lol
I do however have the engine installed in the car now and am currently working on the bmr tubular k member and lower control arms. _________________

IVe mostly been working on the jimmy. I haven't drove the Camaro in atleast 6 months due to bad speedometer, then an electrical short I figured out about a month ago.
Hopefully I can drive it tomm, but I noticed rust in a spot I need to deal with before I drive it to much. |
