I know there are a few 2nd gens floating around here. Anyone find the best fit fan for the stock radiator? Don't care about controllers or anything like that, just fan fitment.
Thanks,

It's an aftermarket direct replacement. So should fit with a stock rad too. However, my shroud was also the radiator hold down. So I had to make the aluminum hold down to get the shroud out of the way.
Radiator came with 2 12" fans.. they sucked. Didn't come close to keeping up with this 400. These fans do.. barely, but thats more a function of the pontiac motor.
Oh and these fans do better then the stock hd AC fan clutch assembly. |

IIRC dad's mounts with an aluminum plate on the top. The shroud he has now is junk anyway. When did fans get so expensive?
How well did the cry fan mount? Lots of fab? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

OK, home at the computer again. Fan has its own built in shroud. I just stuck weatherstripping around its edge then used the plastic tie things like you would for a trans cooler.
I noticed the price of good fans when I was looking for some for this car. Good ones are $$$$ That brought me to used ones. Guys on other forums are using these or Taurus fans, if I remember right. I think the Taurus fan takes a special controller though. |

The Taurus fan doesn't need a controller per se. Some people use one to avoid the massive initial amp draw and take advantage of the modulating speed control, but you can just as easily use a high-amp relay and a coolant switch. |
