I don't trust my old heater core so I'm not going to put it back in the car. It looks fine on the outside but who knows what it looks like inside. Went down to the auto store and I was really disappointed with what they had. Total Chinese junk. So the question is who makes a good heater core that I don't have to worry about leaking in the future?

Since you don't need one right away why not use RockAuto?

Bear in mind that it is all but illegal to build heater cores in this country (at least in the way it's usually done) so you are pretty much limited to Mexico or China.

Rock Auto sells the same junk. Apparently getting a well built heater core is not easy.

Rumor has it that NAPA has a fully braised piece built in Mexico.

Some of the napa ones will be aluminum now. Even if the original app had soldered brass. You won't know till you get it. Anything built in the last couple years is going to be aluminum. They've pretty much outlawed lead solder.

Dropped off the heater core, evaporator, and condenser at what's supposed to be a really good shop here in town. We'll see what they come up with.
