At least that what it seems like. My blower quit working yesterday on the way home from work, came back on about half way home and didn't work at all today. All the mode selection works and the compressor comes on, but I have no air flow except what comes through the cowl as I drive.
After tearing into the dash to check the fan switch, I finally narrowed it down to the blower itself. I applied 12 volts directly to the connector and the motor doesn't even try to energize. Should have tried that first as I have two other dead ones in the garage.... _________________ 92 Camaro

Which motor do you have, Al?
If you are running the A/C delete motor you may as well upgrade it to the better unit. |

Aaron,
Will the non-A/C box fit the A/C blower? What else would you have to switch?
Thanks. |

I forget. I remember having a heck of a time finding the right one. I think most of the cars that it came in are getting crushed out by the yards. I know that the "big" midsize cars (Park Ave, Bonneville, ect.) in the late 80's should have the right cage. Beyond that it's just pull and compare.
What we ended up with was not exactly the ideal unit (IIRC it was the press-on splined style rather than the keyed unit with a nut) but I fixed it okay I think. |

As it turns out, the motor worked, somewhat. Its bearing is going away. I had two in the garage that I thought were bad, I chose another testing method and both fired up.
One motor was complete with cage, press on with splined shaft, which is the one I used but may not last long - it's a bit noisy on high. The other without a cage has a keyed shaft with a nut. The one I took out of the car was also keyed, so now I have one of each style cage and a spare motor. _________________ 92 Camaro
