It was $2k but last I checked it was going up. These aren't new chargers either. I'm not sure how these are supposed to sound, but this one makes noise I don't like.
With the bypass operating, if you can stay out of boost , mileage shouldn't change. |

Seller tells me the eatons have straight cut gears and make a rattle noise at idle. Which is when I hear mine. It seems to operate just fine, just unnerved by the noise.
Doesn't make the jeep a hot rod but there's always power on tap now. And it will twist the jeep over while you're accelerating. Power wise I'm happy.
Had a bluetooth obdII hooked up to my phone. Watching the O2 sensor. Doesn't peg either direction which actually surprises me. Still would like to get a boost gauge and wideband on her. |

Just reading up on eaton supercharger noises. Seems it's most likely a nylon coupler in the snout. Not a big deal. Common problem. Thing basically looks and functions like a rag joint. |

Jesus. I can see now why you went for this over a regear. That's a great price for everything.
The noise could be that coupler, or it could be the snout bearings themselves. IIRC they are not too complex to repair.
How many steps colder did you go on the plugs? They could be your ping issue right there. |

Haven't addressed plugs yet. That's definately next. Just ran out of time.
But.. I did take it out today. Went wheeling above Hood River. Thing is freaking awesome on the freeway. Didn't change a thing rock crawling. No idea yet on mud. Needs plugs/tuning for high load/part throttle. Right as you step into it and the boost barely starts to come in you get the melted ice in a cooler noise.
Oh and the test runs here, freeway drive to Troutdale, then scenic cruise on the old gorge highway to Hood River, I got 14.5mpg. Considering last few tanks were 14.1-14.4.. not too shabby! |

That's why I wanted to jump on this. Place is just getting started and price will only be going up. It's allready $200 more on his website and $400 more on ebay then it was when I got it. |

Meh.. they sure know how to make things difficult. Trying to figure out a colder plug for it. NGK didn't list anything, neither did Autolite. Finally found a champion, which I crossed back to NGK. However the NGK says its for "power equipment" but may fit some cars. Not sure if I want lawnmower plugs or champions LOL |

The NGK and autolite books I've seen at the part stores explain heat ranges pretty well.
Like autolite 25 is mid range, 26 is hotter and 24 cooler. I think NGK is backwards from that. |

All that is true, but it only applies to bog-standard applications. Plugs with oddball combinations can be a real headache.
IIRC the plugs I was running in Banana were for a Jaguar. |

My problem is they don't just change the heat range #, they change the whole part #. Like the champion # is 438 for a jeep, but the colder plug is a 346. Autolite is 985 but the 346 number will cross to a 3923.
Jeep uses a special extended tip. I think only the correct plug has this, these colder plugs are your normal length. Not sure about the champion, it's apparently a viper plug. All of these have the correct thread and length. |

With ngk the 4 digit stock number changes. When you go by the number on the plug itself or the engine carb sticker on the hood.. the heat range is colder the higher the number.
The stock plug of our era is a pretty hot plug. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Allright. I think I finally found what I wanted. 2 stages colder 0.032 gap, ngk. Stock plug is a ZFR5N, this one is a ZFR7F. The N to F difference is the ground electrode. N is "special" F is tapered seat. Thought that might be the sealing, but both say they're gasket seat. |

Hahaha.. ok.. thats a mercury outboard plug. Wondering if the pic they use is a stock pic because usually those have no ground electrodes.
Correction Honda outboard. Says extended tip so if that's correct it may be my plug anyway. One heat range colder is only available in Iridium. If i'm trying out heat ranges I'd rather do it with some cheaper plugs. |

Reply flood. For anyone wishing to use a non standard NGK plug they have a "reverse engineer" search. Input all your parameters and it tells you what plugs they make that fit that criteria.

Just noticed something almost disturbing..
The Champion website has the exact same reverse engineering search.
The website seemed very very familiar. Like the same as NGK's. Now I notice they both have the same technical support phone number. So is NGK/Champion the same company now?
Edit.. its just a dealer. The website names are very official sounding however. |
