That would make it hard to bolt a mechanical pump up then... maybe get a big drill and some JB weld. No problem. |

I forget what year the block is, but we put a mechanical pump on the L03 in James' second gen. |

Weird. Must have been one of those things that GM was not consistent on over the years. My '87 305TPI engine definitely worked fine with a manual fuel pump. It was in an '87 T/A with a 700R4. Center bolt valve covers, roller cam, 1-piece RMS. Peanut cam. I stole the TPI off of it and put a Q-Jet on to give to my brother. The engine stamp matched the VIN on the car. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I thought I remembered the peanut cam not having the lobe. Weird. Gm so consistently inconsistent. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

My LG4 has the roller cam and a factory manual pump. Odd combo. I've seen some blocks with the fuel pump boss and no pump rod hole. I've also seen some blocks without even the fuel pump boss. So I guess you could have just about anything. |

It should have hole for a mech pump its a crate motor. Not factory 91. He wants to keep the electric pump idk why but its not my choice lol _________________

I'd keep it. It works. Its in tank. I've seen guys suck through the original pump with a mechanical but you're just asking for problems not putting in a carb pickup.
Wtf get rid of TBI anyway? Throw a single plane intake on it and you're a fuel injected carb with better everything. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Word...and I may have the right manifold for sale at some point this summer....
single plane + TBI is a pretty solid combo. None of the TBI motors will make power with their peanut cam and swirl-port heads. |

With everything being gasahol I'd keep the in-tank pump as well. Avoid problems like this one with a fairly new Edelbrock pump that don't seem to bother in-tank pumps.
