It goes between the rail and the trans tunnel, right around where the cat is. |

That extra bar is to tie the passenger side to the frame rail. IMO I wouldn't even consider a SFC that didn't do that. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I think you'll be happy with the UMIs. I know I am. They made a huge difference even on my hardtop car.
In addition to the picture Aaron posted of my car from a person's point of view, here's another from a lower angle. The SFCs really aren't too noticeable when you're standing at normal height but they do peek out a little. My GFX are much smaller than later Camaros, they aren't even as low as the pinch weld. My T56 case is the lowest point on my car, lower than the exhaust and the SFCs. Side note, Paul did an awesome job welding everything up for me that weekend. We tied the SFCs to the floor all down both sides of the car with round stock.
And another.

Really happy with the UMI's. Made the car feel more like a car and less like a tin can. And yes the dash doesn't make a creaking sound like it use too. Lol
I also put some founders control arms on with poly bushings and moved the arms to the lowest bolt hole on my relocation brackets. The bit of wheel hop I was getting before virtually gone now. Car drives better than ever. |

congrats bro! that's awesome.
I also had not idea you went about a complete vortec motor swap. Way to go. I was contimplating the exact same build when i felt like being crazy and did the LT1 instead. How does it feel? I've never been in a vortec TBI before.

Thanks!
Yeah I have about 3500 miles on it now. First motor I've ever put together (in a car for myself). Mostly a budget build because my 305 was sooo tired. Same can and heads as in the old 305. I think the extra cubes just made a bit more power across the board and a big difference in torque. Now it'll keep the tires spinning thru 2nd. Lol
The control arms now with new bushings and corrected geometry really made a big difference in keeping the diff from bouncing around. |
