I think it is time, after 5+ years with no e-brake and not having pulled an Ian yet it is time to make my LS1 e-brakes work. What does it take? There is a 2002 Camaro in my local yard right now and I would like to scavenge the parts I need off of it. Do I need everything from the handle to the brakes?

I have a full LS1-era 4thgen rear in the car right now, my e-brake cable is cut where it goes through the floor so I know I at least need all the cables.

EDIT: Should I just buy the Ed Miller conversion cables?

If you buy those it will match right up to your 3rd gen brake leaver and cable setup under the car. That said I have that setup and my Ebrake still sucks. If you cut the cable where it goes through the floor you will need to replace it with another one, these conversion cables take over at the "Y" the cables make under the car.

Sorry,
I have the PBR "1LE/LT1" brakes. The cable mount where the cable meets the caliper looks identical.

Yeah, mine has been cut where it goes through the floor for years. I know I have to replace that. I will probably pull one of those cables from a junkyard car and buy the LS1 conversion cables from Ed. That's the direction I am leaning right now. I hadn't realized that Ed started making these cables since last time I looked at hooking up my e-brake. I definitely have more money than time right now so throwing some cash at the problem and making it an easy bolt-on deal is preferable to futzing around with welding and bracket fabrication like TGO says to do.

In an effort not to pull another "Ian" I just bought the conversion cables. I have factory 3rdgen handle/front cable/adjusting splitter to the conversion cables to factory 4thgen drum ebrake assemblies. Works flawlessly, every time. I initially tried finding a car to cut the bracket out of and never found a car in the yards that wasn't either mangled to bits or under an almost fully assembled car. I don't want to do that much work. Very Happy

Sounds good, I'm glad it's as easy as I was hoping. I think I am missing some e-brake parts on my rear end right now but the '02 Camaro in the yard up here should have anything I need.

Here's my list then:
Replace thirdgen cable from handle to splitter
Buy Ed's LS1 conversion cables
Make sure my rear end has a complete e-brake setup
Hook it all up!

It's OK, I need to hit the yard anyway for the LS1 parking brake parts I am missing, it's not much more work to pull the stupid forward e-brake cable out of a random thirdgen.

My setup is 4th gen from the handle back. It was just as easy for me to grind out the cable bracket in the tunnel and install the 4th gen stuff in its place.
