As my friend Adam likes to point out, sometimes I spend entirely too much money on stupid things. I tend to disagree. At least I'm not buying more junk cars to work on. Has anyone else here been spending far too much money on cars lately or just me?
And I think getting rid of the Grant GT was worth almost any amount of money!
This improvement is accompanied by all new weatherstripping, fancy new hinge pins, brand new tires and several other small things. A perfect way to usher in 3000 trouble-free miles on the LS1 swap.
Sorry about the cell phone quality and dirty carpets. I was too excited to clean or get the nice camera out!

Id say money well spent man! everyone who says it dumb to spend money on a steering wheel is stupid... It's the main thing you have to stare at while driving! _________________

Should have the normal Chevy 3" piece of yellow wire that hooks up to the backside. |

There's a white disc with a contact that goes behind the lock plate. The yellow wire is spring loaded and hooks into the white disc, which then rotates with the steering wheel. The other end of the yellow wire connects to the horn button which you then snap on to the wheel and you are done.

So that's why I couldn't figure my horn out. My button is broke.
I know my white piece is broke. Anyone know how hard that is to get too?
I also dunno where I put my horn wire, but I know I ended up cutting it for my last wheel.
So basically every part of my horn system is broke
thanks for the pictures!! |

Cracks in the white plastic horn ring are common.
Both it and the yellow cam wire can be purchased, but I don't have the part numbers in front of me right now.
Replacement involves removing the wheel and the lock plate, so you will need to rent the tools to do those two jobs.
You know this was all covered in the column rebuilding thread...

I never cared for that particular style of wheel (or many of the wheels they put on GM vehicles in the 80's), but it seems to be in excellent shape. |

I think this style is perfect for the style of these cars.
The reason it looks so good is because I paid a nice man a lot of money to restore it. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

The IROC wheel is the best thirdgen wheel.
It looks like your restorer used a less-glossy wrap, which may actually be an improvement.
Now to do something about those purple seats. |

I like my formula wheel. But the powder coat is starting to show a few bubbles.
I'm afraid i'm not fond of the camaro wheel either. But its not my car so that dont mean diddly. If we all liked/drove the same thing cars would be appliances. |

Yes, the leather is less glossy than the factory leather. I think it is an improvement as well. It really looks good in person, the camera phone kind of washed things out a little bit. I'll have to get a picture with my nice camera on a sunny day.
If you sell me those GTA seats I'll pay another nice man an even larger sum of money to redo them and then you can have my purple seats.
I'm with B, if we all liked the same thing life would be boring! We already know I'm a little odd since I like this silly early Z stuff anyway.
EDIT: Hmm, seats next?

Actually I would prefer cloth, in charcoal, and GTA seats. I saw a set like this for sale once but never again, so I might be stuck buying what I can find and recovering them anyway.
Oh wait, if I have to recover, does anyone know where I could get the factory '84 gray and black pinstripe interior like my stock seats had and my stock doorpanels still have? That would be amazing. GTA seats with this fabric would be so painfully 80's and custom.

Shop around at upholstery places. You'd be surprised how close you can get sometimes.
Hawk$ shows a swatch for it, but there's no way to tell if the pattern matches.
Seat covers for the GTA seats are $300 more than I paid for my car, so it looks like it's time to buy some Taz seatcovers at Schucks. |
