That L67 car looks like a great buy.
But I will admit some bias.

Spoke with this guy today. Seems like a cool kid, forced to sell due to debt. |

Ehh... I only paid $680 for my 2.8/T5 car.
He's asking easily double what that bird is worth IMHO. |

Wow that's kinda cool. Had GM put a 454 in a third gen that's probably close to what it would look like. Especially the engine bay. _________________

Very clean swap. I would have liked it more if he used a TBI 454 though, the carb is a disappointment. It's a clean looking car too, I am partial to sport coupes, especially in black and with IROC wheels. If it had an LS1/T56 that car would be right up my alley.
Aaron's Banana might end up looking a lot like that car when it is more done. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

But without the goofy red highlighting and goofy 70's rake and goofy stickers everywhere and goofy '86-only brake light...
There are some well done things that I really like about that car, and also some incredibly poor choices.
Mostly I'm just confused at how he can claim the car is a "survivor" when it has been reshot a different color, had the engine swapped and a giant hole cut in the hood. What exactly did it survive? |

Might be the decals from a 454SS truck, which was just a few years later. I can't be bothered to check.
The thing about the price is that if he had a decently low mileage, real IROC with a good load of options and completely unmolested it might be worth that. But he has a dumb base model sport coupe, with a hackjob of a swap to a non-OEM smog-era engine in a decent looking but not original paint car with silliness plastered all over it. He will probably end up selling it to someone who doesn't know better who just "has to have it" because it is a big-block thirdgen that looks decent. But if I wanted to buy it, I wouldn't pay more than $4k or so because I think that's all it is worth. And even that much only if everything checked out and the swap was actually well done.
To put that in perspective, not even my car with suspension, brakes, LS1/T56, and other thinking-person go-fast mods is not even worth that much. And a bone stock sport coupe with a 454/700R4 crammed into it that makes probably half the HP of an LS1 is definitely not worth it. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

The decal is indeed from the early 454SS pickup trucks.
It was first used in 1990, so only four years after his "prototype" puts it in the right age range.
In that same era GM used similar block-style lettering on their Big-10 trucks and the Indy Z28 pace cars, so I would tend to let it slide on "it doesn't match the era," but stickers on cars are silly so it still loses points
I'm with you guys 100% on the price. People often say "you can't build it for what I'm asking"... well in this case you actually can:
Craigslist Sport Coupe shell - $1000
454 from old smogger pickup - $500
700R4 that might last longer than 15 minutes - $1000
3-core radiator - $250
Maaco black - $1500
Single-vein IROC's - $350
Now there is obviously going to be additional cost, but that's his basic build right there. I am doubtful he has what he is asking into the car. If he does he is bad at building things. |

When I did my 454 swap, I even got the donor truck for free! But like you said, with the intake and possible carb setup, I'm sure it doesn't put out much power, just torque. Clean but not impressive. |
