CHECK The OBVIOUS first Very Happy

Car developed a bit of a rough idle, and had some part throttle hesitation around 3k.

I was going to dive into it this weekend and see if I could figure her out. Popped the hood to check the oil and noticed the plug wires resting on the exhaust manifold.

Burned the wires. PO didn't use the factory retainers or any method of keeping plug wires sorted out.

I know this is kind of a useless thread, but everyone of is guilty of overlooking the obvious at some point or another. So a helpful reminder never hurts. Very Happy

It happens to the best of us. I've overlooked the simple things more often than I'd like to admit.

I seem to recall an instance or two of people running on the dyno with only 7 cylinders firing due to similar issues. Razz

After I put my headers on, I got 2 of the wires on the passenger side switched. Couldn't figure it out, even after checking the firing order several times. It took another set of eyes and ears to find the problem.

After I got the lt1 swap running I found out i forgot to plug a 1/2 in pipe plug hole in the manifold under the throttle body, then I wondered why it was idling so high... Doh!

I think the worst one I was guilty of was crossing 4-6 wires on the old "hello kitty" car, and wondering why the hell the thing ran so badly and chasing my tail on the ignition box wiring for about two days.

:duh:
