Iirc normal fork travel is 3/4"
Clutch should disengage 1" from the pedal all the way up. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I may have some other problem then. Could my TO bearing possibly have installed wrong this hole time? When I first started driving the car after the swap, it seems like the disengaugement was better. |

Whole time. "Hole time" is a totally different thing.
In my experience a TOB in backwards usually results in a clutch that will not disengage at all.
The problem getting gradually worse is causing me to lean towards a failing pressure plate or throwout bearing. Was the clutch kit just whatever Knechts had on the shelf? |

I still have the box, probably what schmucks had on the shelf, its a "dynapack".
Haven't had much "hole time" lately I apologize for my grammar. _________________

I am semi-interested...I'm tired of my auto, which is nearing its end.
Only problem, headers are in the way. Anyway around that for the T-5? |

I realize I'll be talking about something that isn't a Chevy so I apologize in advance, but when I replaced the clutch in my moms Eclipse, we ordered an aftermarket from O'reillys for the car and got it all back together just to find out it wasn't the right clutch. Pulled it, tried another one, still didn't work. (It drove, but pulled a 1/4" from the floor. Ordered one from the dealer, ahhh that was better. Grabs nicely and pulls maybe about an 1" out which all cars are different but according to forums and whatnot that was accurate. Soo long story shorter, I could've just told you maybe you got the wrong clutch or TOB, just my .02. Not that I think they sell very many clutch variations for SBC's, but crazier things have happened. |

Funny you guys post here now, at this very moment. I just got done taking a long drive in the car. Yesterday I decided to make an adjustable pushrod for the clutch master. Today its shifting smoother than it EVER has since its been in my car, I added to much length at first and it was engauging way up so I dialed it back. Its roughly 1/4" longer than it was originally and I couldn't be happier with how its shifting. This idea has been in the back of my head for a long time but I've avoided it because so many people say it isn't the "proper" way to fix it. But I wish I had done it years ago. I imagine there's just something in my combo of hydraulics, clutch, and pedals that isn't quite right and I never had the proper throw. Even though the parts are all "third gen" they aren't original so I think a slight adjustment is all it needed. _________________

Stacked tolerances can explain away a lot of funky things. _________________
