Working on a '99 Taurus. Tracking down a low-but-steady fuel pressure problem.

Trying to rule out bad regulator but I can't find anyplace to crimp the return line. It is steel under the car and hard plastic with speed clips on each end going into the tank and rail. The rail itself is ABS plastic and I don't see any way to plug it there.

Any ideas dudes?

Disconnect the return from the rail and use the appropriate fuel pressure gauge adapter with a plug in the brass....

Hmm... the rail side is a female socket designed to accept an o-ring male fitting, but I could get a large hose, clamp it over the end of the rail and then run that into the pressure gauge. That would give me my dead-head reading.

Thanks Paul. Cool

The good tool truck fuel pressure gauge kits come with all the random common fittings for 2000-2010 vehicles. In the middle is almost always a brass TEE which makes it really easy to cap off if need be, or like you said, dead head with the gauge and watch.

Furthermore some of the spring clip styles can psuedo interchange with the plastic insert clip style in a pinch for diagnostics.

:O)
