I think the 305 had 17 or 18lb. Where 350 I think had hi19's??
However, the upper plenium has a boss for the map sensor, extra vac port. There are lots of little changes..... not that they cant be overcome. I would wait and find a 90-92 map system, then find a stand alone older style base. |

| Wait are you saying the plenum they have for sale, since it's for a MAF system I have to drill another hole for the MAP sensor? I could always buy this setup and sell the engine harness and ECM but if I have to start drilling holes in the plenum I might be waiting for another deal. |

yes, you understood me correctly.
On the pass side of the plenum, there is a hole drilled for a map sensor bracket, and an extra vac port that is lined up perfect for that map sensor that it has just a little elbow.
IMO, it would be best for you to find a MAP setup for sale, then find the early maf base with correct head bolt alignment, and plug your cold start injector hole.
Again, all these "flaws" can be overcome, but its money, effort, rigging, etc. |

I don't recall the specifics of it but you cannot just mix and match bases and runners with the early vs. late TPI stuff. James and John tried to do that on John's Trans Am and it didn't work out so well.
I recall it had something to do with the narrow tubes on the runners not matching. Also the TB is different. |

Luckily I had two complete TPI setups (and Aaron to point out the mistakes!)
BTW, I have an invaluable reference book called the TPI Swapper's Guide. It will tell you what works with what where early vs. late systems are concerned. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Ive mixed and match, but I do have aftermarket runners. Ive not had problems swapping TB's from different plenums.
At some point or another, Ive had both types of plenums, and 3 different bases (corvette including) and 2 different runners. This is how I learned all this and ended up costing me a few coins. |

Haha Yup, found all this out the hard way.
As for the map sensor I just used my old tbi map bracket and mounted it in a creative fashion along with the coil, I'm using a maf setup with the CSI plugged, I used a Billet setup from someone in Oregon I believe. I figure the best way to attack this is to get the speed density stuff, mainly the harness, a tpi unit can be modified like a lot of us have done to function for SD. What I don't want to see is a hack harness job on the car. Plug and play is much easier and being that your car was 90-92 it would be much easier, the only thing you'll have to rewire to my knowledge is the Vss buffer box which takes a whole 5 mins, did some extensive searching this morning on my speedo problem and found a lot of info on tbi cars to tpi swaps lol
Clean up the parts first, check em all out then worry about the minor details look at what Luke and I did, we went at it and dealt with problems as they occured _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

| Yeah harness and ECM is next. Then sensors will be after. Try to get the block off plate and bolts as I go along. Speaking of, I need the throttle cable mount, intake bolts, and I'm missing 1 or 2 intake bolts. May just order that upper bolt kit off eBay. But I do need the intake bolts. Unless I can match them and find nice allen head ones at ace. hmmmm. But I do need the throttle cable and mount. |
