Make it a nice driver. I think 33" tires, and 3 or 4" lift should fit in the garage. Supposibly its got one beast of a motor.
We had to fully remove the brake system to make it roll. So fixing that is #1. Then make the motor spin. |

Looks like its solid where it needs to be. Most everything but the rockers just bolt on.
I've fixed worse. Good luck these trucks are easy to fix and probably cheaper then any other vehicle to restore. |

The left floor needs repaired, both rockers. Then the rear quarters need fixed due to being cut out. They will likely be last thing to get fixed.
Dont have as much done by now as planned. But what car project goes as planned? |

So the motor has had marvols mystery oil in it since sun or monday. Still wont spin by ratcheting on the crank bolt. Thinking about putting some kerosen in it, then taking crank balancer off and putting my crank socket on it.
Any other ideas?
Also quite sure it has an np203 transfer case which is basically AWD. Does not have a 2wd. Its missing one of the link rods. Anyone know of a place that sells them? |

Classifieds on either;
www.coloradok5.com
www.pirate4x4.com
Worse case scenario you could buy one of those twin stick kits and I think those come with new linkages. _________________

Some thoughts:
Marvel Mystery Oil is just type-F tranny fluid. Buy that (or just hydraulic oil) and save a few bucks.
I would try soaking it with some diesel fuel to loosen it up.
Throw that 203 in the scrap pile where it belongs and get a 205 or 208. They are a silly case for silly people. |

Jay, is this what you're after or do you need the rods themselves?
I found that at my Dad's shop and I seem to remember it came off a 203... |

They look close, but isnt it.
I went ot the junkyard and found 1 blazer that had the linkage I needed. Plus power steering and 1 rim like I plan to put on it
Thanks for looking for stuff though.
Ian, how do they do a 203/205 combo? Havent heard of that.[/b]
:edit: Have the hood off, back bumper off, another bath, drivers seat out for floorboard inspection, old tank out. Today I am going to try and finish removing the cross member so I can test fit the new gas tank. |

Worth a shot, buddy.
The 205/203 is made by scrapping the differential part of the NP203 (which is the useless girly part anyway ) and mounting the range section on the back of the NP205 to run as a doubler.
Google "205/203 doubler". It is a very common mod and lots of kits are available. You will need an adapter, shifter(s) and a crossmember IIRC. |

This is the first 4x4 I have ever touched. So I am clueless and that all might as well be greek. |

Picture the transfer case like like a fwd transmission mounted directly to a diff. You've got the range selection box (the "transmission" that lets you go from hi to lo) and the differential that sends the drive power to just the rear axle, just the front axle or both at the same time. You toss the crappy diff of the 203 (think 7.625 ten bolt) in favor of the nicer 205 (think 12 bolt). _________________

Okay so lets start at the beginning then.
First off most transfer cases in American trucks come from New Process or Borg Warner. Thus the "NP" and "BW" you will see. The cases are referred to by model number, but note that cases with the same model number came in a wide variety of trucks from different manufacturers and in different configurations.
A transfer case has two basic parts, the splitter and the range box. The splitter sends power to the front and rear shafts while the range box performs the standard high/low function.
If you offroad and want more gear reduction (especially in a truck with a manual transmission) you will want a deeper low-gear than the normal low-range of your transfer case, so you install a second low-range box inline as shown:
This is commonly referred to as a "doubler" as most common boxes are about 2:1 ratio, thus doubling the effective gear ratio of the truck when it is engaged. In that picture you can clearly see the doubler made from half of an old NP203 case (black) and the heavier-duty (and part time) NP205 case mounted behind it (orange).
The downside of this setup is weight, length, drivetrain loss if the truck is driven at high speed, and cost of the adapters.
For a street truck where the 4x4 is only used to get things unstuck then you don't need the doubler, and a good part-time case like the NP205 or NP208 will serve you well. |

I plan to mostly street drive this about 85-90% of the time. Only in bad weather or pulling something stuck will I use 4x4. Occasionally I might trail ride or light wheel. But before I fix that body, I am going to make sure it gets down n dirty |
