So I got my car porn parts in today. Plan on installing a bumpsteer kit this weekend since I need an alignment and have a tire that needs repaired.

After about 45min of searching on TGO, I did not find anything solid on where a good base point is to start at. I thought I read before that they either needed to be parrallel to the ground, or control arm. Or was that wrong?

If I remember right(thats a big if) They should be parallel to the control arm. That way the connecting rod and the control arm move in the same arc and your toe doesnt change as the wheel goes up and down.

That's what I've always heard.

You can only get so close though as the tie rod and control arm articulate on different planes. But yes, parallel or close to it is the goal.

Doing a bit of preinspecting as I have something to do in a few hrs.

According to this, I need to raise it if I want it parallel to the control arm. Confused

I will add that it should be parallel to the pivot points, not just the arm. So from the arm bolts to the king pivot point. In this case, its basically the arm though...

Well they are on, at the highest setting, and still lower then these were. They are almost parallel to the ground at highest setting.

Have yet to drive it as its been raining.

Now that I've had a chance to drive many different kinds of cars in varying condition, I'm actually impressed at how little bump steer our 3rd gens have. I think one of the worst cars for bumpsteer is a WRX or STI.

I agree with this statement. My stock suspension Legacy has more bumpsteer than my extremely lowered Camaro.

Drove it today, seemed to have a little less then before. However, it is pulling to one side as I have yet to get an alignment. May lower them a hair before I get one.
