I know that an 84-earlier aluminum bumper support will not fit on an 85+ car. Does anybody have a definitive answer as to weather an 85+ Firebird bumper support will fit behind an 85+ Camaro? I have a Trans Am I can steal parts off if so.. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

The older bumper should fit on the newer car.
The Bird bumper will not as Bruce said.
I have one torn down in the shop if you need pictures. |

I don't want to overcomplicate this, only trying to understand 100% what you're saying.
Do you mean that the STEEL bumper support should work, and that the plastic egg crate just needs to be swapped between a Camaro and Firebird?
Or are you saying that early and late supports are interchangeable as long as its from the same car (Camaro OR Firebird)? _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

I screwed up today, I decided it would be a good time to replace my damaged nose, chin spoiler, and fenders today. I didn't realize that the bumper support was so badly damaged, so I've got the entire front in pieces in my driveway. I'm trying to avoid making a trip to the Pick n Pull in the morning, hence why I'm asking if I can pirate the support from my 88 'Bird. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

Steel is different between Bird and Camaro.
Eggcrate changed anytime the nose changed (early, late, sport coupe, ect.)
Eggcrate is not hard to swap, but somewhat annoying. Have to drill out rivets with a long bit and then replace them with bolts, fender washers and nylockers. |

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I know Pick n Pull on 112th and Steele has 3 or 4 86 and up Camaros, guess I'm headed there first thing tomorrow.
Edit: Also, thanks for preventing me from dismantling my GTA. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

I noticed, I paid about 55 bucks the other day for a pair of hood hinges and a wiring pig tail. I had been out of state for 8 years prior to last summer, when did they buy it? _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

Well, 19 dollars for a bumper support. I think the girl at the register may have benefited me a little, she was pretty confused as far as ringing it up. I paid 2 dollars per foot for an air dam, too. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

Well, I thought I knew, everything I'd read about it said it wouldn't work without some surgery. TGO isn't known for its accuracy, I suppose. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

Hell, I read on there it did. So I got. I did some ever so slight trimming on the grid. But that was just a CMA thing, it fit w/o cutting.
