For now, yes. With 4x100>5x120.65 adapters I'd be sticking out of the fenders about 1"+ on all wheels. I've got some fender flares that need a bit of massaging+paint. I'll wait until the bird is done before sending this for paint.

I thought about that, but I'll just wait until I up the displacement. _________________

Looks good. What size wheels are they? And did you lower it? I'm in the process of putting mine together. Dropped the tank, fixed some holes, urethane subframe bushings, and adjustable rear 3" springs. Needless to say its been down for over a month now... _________________ E30

16x8 et10. Didn't fit worth crap. I put some H&R (I believe sport? the grey ones) on it with KYB shocks. I need a new tank as I can only use half of mine.
Get to cracking on it! Or buy the vorshlag 2010/2011 challenge car when it sells later this year. _________________

Looking good. You just need to drop it more, and to me it's weird seeing an E30 with that tall of a tire. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I agree with the drop. They look much better with less gap. However, I'm not putting effort into building a skidplate (and certainly not spending $200 for one! ) and that would become a big concern if the car went any lower. There are threads spattered over the e30 boards about guys busting drainplugs and oilpans. It's a DD for now. No need to make it aggressive just yet!
This size tire is an exact height match for factory (and the widest I could get unless I went R comps). With less tire, it'd just make the fender gap worse.

Hey, some of us like huge wheels and skinny tires. Others like bananas. _________________

Is the oil pan on those as low as on the 4cyl cars? Those things need a skidplate at factory height! |

Have you seen the raceskidz design? It's fairly simple with just a single 20* or so bend in some decent gauge steel. I just don't have anything to easily bend that thick of steel!
Factory;
It's like when you lower a thirdgen and it doesn't really look lowered...
I'm not sure about the 4cyl cars but the oilpan design on this M20 is horrendous. _________________

Yeah I've heard and seen the consequences of when you don't drive those carefully when lowered. Changing an oil pan on an E30 is a royal pain in the ass. Have you ever thought about using a street sign as a skid plate? I forget, is the oil pan cast aluminum or stamped steel? _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Anything that is going to punch through a cast oil pan will not be slowed down at all by a stupid aluminum street sign!
You are overthinking how much work it is to build a skidplate IMHO. Just get a piece of steel, clamp a disposable straight-edge to it, cut a kerf with a grinder, bend at the cut and weld the back of it. Then make like six standoffs.
Is the oil pan on the sixer a two-piece like the four banger? I had to replace the pan on of those that had been smashed in and it was easy money. |

| I think both the four and six are a single piece cast aluminum pan? Both hang down really low and forward of the wheels. |
